| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! was thinking of something like a kind of diatom, a photosynthesizing being a little larger than a grain of sand, which would abound in large numbers the dunes and large portions of snow somewhere large "terrestrial whales" could "filter" this sand / snow and terrestrial plankton |

An alternate timeline in which Metazoa is descended from ciliates instead of flagellates. Could such an event occur? If so, how? |

Okay, this is very complex. A planet 4 times the size of the earth, but that is hollow. It is something like an alternative earth. Biology is identical, however, some animals have differed more than on earth, others that have existed on earth also exist, as well as future evolutions of these animals that once inhabited the earth. besides new creatures, but following terrestrial biology, like hexapods derived from other types of fish and things like that (I really have a LOT in mind). not counting the social part of the inhabitants of that land, which are similar to humans, but they are like cattle (I work in their religion, political structure, but I know that this is not in the forum). besides something like a moon that has a radically different biology from the planet "earth" but in fact they are distant relatives of the animals of the earth, that have been literally taken to the moon by aliens (aliens who are responsible for the whole creation of life on this planet, besides its construction and a lot of other things) I know that mixing a lot of ideas of several types would be a very strange thing, so I will never present you as a project by itself, only the ideals presented in it, but without showing any kind of connection between them |

now that I have stopped to write exactly what has in this universe I realized that there are many concepts in it :V from alternative evolution to other animals that have become almost sapient, but that are no more "intelligent than a crow" |

I've got a project I'm working on, a moon called "Attis". The main interesting things about this world are: - most organisms rely on plastic-like polymers for cellular and skeletal structure -"plants" and "animals" diverged a lot later (to the point that they belong to the same kingdom, Phytozooidea) - the vertebrate analogues are best described as clonal colonies, arising from a group of fused clones to form a single organism. In "higher" organisms the composite clones are far from identical. Because the colony can have a different number of clones, the number of limb pairs in the worlds charismatic megafauna is variable. |

Currently im working on Life on Enceladus, a Moon of Saturn, with a subsurface ocean. I first wanted to do Europa, but Europa too big, and the pressure is too great at the ocean surface. Enceladus is quite tame, low gravity, and a high, but not killer ocean surface pressure. |

How about... A post apocalyptic alternate evolution scenario ( no k-pg) with dinosauroids, with a dinosauroid ''ranger''/ ''game warden'' narrating the apocalypse, wildlife, people, and the genetically engineered monstrosities of the wasteland. Basically fallout/madmax with sapient dinosaurs. Edited by Mynameisnotdave23, Mar 2 2018, 06:41 PM.

So my idea from this came from a book called "Gone extinct" Which was from a series of books that also had boardgames and figures for the boardgames. These books we're called groovy tubes books. The figurines were in the tubes simliar to safari ltd's go on lines. Anyways I have two copy, one with the board game, book and figures and the second with just the book, sadly I lost most of the game pieces for the board game (I'm determined to find them however). This series discontinued around 2013 cause I wasn't seeing them in stores anymore, you can buy them online but they are at ridiculous prices. Anyways onto the premise of the project, basically it will take place on a island or terraformed world with a unqiue set of 15 extinct creatures which we're the figures of the board game, the roster of animals will include. Allosaurus Ammonite Archaeopteryx Archelon Arthropleura Brachauchenius Dodo bird Red colobus monkey Opabinia Pteranodon Quagga Smilodon Steller's sea cow Tasmanian tiger AKA thylacince Woolly mammoth Edited by CeratosaurusKing, Mar 3 2018, 05:11 PM.

Projects in work Raparia Future project ideas: Tale of the horned beasts - A alternate evolution project where ceratosaurus never went extinct and instead evovled to better fit the new challenges they shall face ahead of them. Umber - A alternate universe project where portals have been opening up to a moon named "umber" other then a few species of freshwater and saltwater fish, as well as invertebrates. Pangolins,Iguanas,Noasauriade, and Cuttlefish are the most prominet group of animals. | |

Seems like an interesting idea, though you will obviously need far more invertebrates, plants, etc. if you want to have an actual ecosystem. On an unrelated note.... I had the entire groovy tubes collection when I was a kid, and was an avid collector of animal replicas. Too bad I gave it all away. |

I have a large amount of project ideas, some of which I don't really wanna use anymore (I made a thread for that elsewhere though). I'm always reluctant to put them in here in danger of filthy thieves, but hey, I'll list the ones I'm not actually working on at the moment. Underfoot A planet in a distant arm of the galaxy, four billion years in the future, andromeda is merging with the milky way. A planet, wet, hot, volatile, lays dormant on the surface. But deep beneath the turbulent waves, a bacterial cluster, a descendant of bacterial scum left on the planet by the boots of human astronauts four billion years ago, erupts into life. A second chance for life on earth to thrive again, even if only the most basic lifeforms light the spark. Bordering on xenobiology, but it's technically evolutionary continuum. The Green A low gravity terraformed world populated by some kind of seaweed and your average grass. Originally it was just grass, but nobody wants to see a project about a load of burning lawn. Wild Blue Yonder A terraformed planet seeded with blue whales and their requirements, I'd imagine a lot of the krill and such on which it feeds would diversify before the cetaceans really take off. Actually considering making this one happen, though I am preoccupied with a sneaky secret project currently. All The Way Down Low gravity terraformed planet, populated with numerous fish, insects, essential animals and diamondback terrapins. Yet unnamed concept Terraformed low gravity world, Mantids and Spiders. So far I have these guys: - Portia - Theraphosidae - Hymenopus - Hierodula - Idolomantis - Scytodes - Nephilia - Archaeidae Wacega Just a xeno project, orange dwarf star, strong axial tilt, life has existed for about 1,000,000,000 years etc. Of Thunder Terraformed world, earth sized / slightly smaller. Moderately lower gravity. Populated predominantly by elephants, essential animals, insects and numerous fish, amphibians and reptiles to keep the insect population in check. EDIT 1: Just thought of a cool one, maybe an ecosystem built around the still standing remains of a supercivilization. Now, watch in awe as practically none of these see the light of day for eighty thousand years. Edited by Octoaster, Mar 5 2018, 03:10 AM.
