Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

What if it was actually based on fact? Like a report of a murderous land crocodile by locals dismissed like most cases, but an actual specimen is found.

Avisia, an island archipelago isolated for over 88 million years, and is know home to megafaunal birds, mekosuchine crocodiles, and many relics. (currently in infancy)

I love how according to the 'regular flat earth model' Australia is bigger than North America.
Lol.That looks like the snowball Earth of the "prehistoric" times. These flat earth guys never give up despite their theory has nothing to do with the real understanding of the world.
I thought snowball earth was a thing though?

I've been wanting to redo my Erestu project for some time, but instead of having the life evolve naturally, most life would have evolved from self-replicating bioweapons like living guns and combustion engines. I can't decide if I want the planet itself to be artificial, but I definitely still want it to have an eccentric orbit, with seasons based on how close or far the planet is to its star. In winter the planet freezes over, and in summer the planet boils, evaporating a large portion of the oceans and creating a thick greenhouse atmosphere.

A project based around more realistic versions of monsters from the movie library of The Asylum, like Mega Shark, Sharktopus, and Sharknado among other groups. The twist is, however, like Icthy's Zelda project, the movies also exist in-universe, with the films being "ripped from the headlines" as it were.

Another project I had in mind was a project about an archipelago where the Corner Rise Seamounts are today. Each entries of the project would be themed as a collection of myths and stories like the dreamtime of aboriginees by the island's indigenous peoples which would explain the physiological and behavioral traits of the fauna, starting off with the story themselves, before moving onto explaining the actual evolutionary history and biology of the animal.

- XenoSphere: The greatest zoo in the galaxy.
- The Curious Case of the Woolly Giraffe: A case study of an eocene relic.
- Untittled Asylum Studios-Based Project: The truth behind all the CGI schlock

An open collab project like my infinite pet store project idea earlier, but it's a general infinite indoor zoo/aquarium where apports can come from pet stores, zoos, aquariums, ancient menageries, etc.

Has anyone done a project that expands upon the species and habitats shown in The Future Is Wild? Surely there is more life than what is shown in the documentary! What else has adapted to the Amazon Grasslands or the Antarctic Forests? Are there any species that feed on gannet whales (other than snow stalkers)? I think that it would be interesting for a future evolution project to answer these questions, and to fill in the other gaps in the show.

Is there any sort of alternate scenario where we can get many, many lineages of land arthropods? Like, 10 to 15 separate groups?
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

we'd have to deal with copyrights...and even Dixon, the creator, avoided that - redoing the entire future when it was moved to another format.

There's plenty of projects dealing with TFIW stuff, Rodlox. You only have to worry about copyright if you try to sell/share it as your own 100% original creation. Otherwise, it's basically just fanfiction, which is a transformative work and usually perfectly legal.

Dumb Quotes

Coming Soon/To be Rebooted:

How To Hunt Gods - Everything you need to know about Gods and the art of God-killing.

Intrazoology - The world of semi-corporeal lifeforms. A world you walk through every day, without even knowing it.

The Dungeonverse - Magical creatures forced to adapt in huge, underground caverns, while surface-dwelling humans go dungeoneering for treasure.

Crossover - A mish-mash of worlds, with Earth smack in the middle of the chaos. What could go wrong?

no worries

How about a project on an upside down forest. Where plants grow upside down.
Undertale spec actually sounds interesting.

Hoo boy. Trust me when I say this - Syfy has a lot of fucking movies to draw from. Everything from alien serpents made out of fire that live on the sun to cylcopses, ogres, and Irish rocs.

And regarding Undertale spec, the thing about that is that an ecosystem can't really work with monsters from there - not unless predators develop a lot of adaptations to keep their prey alive as they eat to stop it from turning to dust.

I'm not sure if there's ever been an actual project about this, but there have been people who have come up with additional species and habitats for TFIW. For example:
