Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

No, but I am running a YouTube channel if you want to help with that.
I think both an e-magazine and a youtube channel could work. Not sure why one was abandoned over the other.

Also, the whole podcast thing can be done over, and then uploaded on Youtube too as part of weekly/bi-weekly/monthly series of discussions. I follow quite a few channels like that on Youtube. And just like you have on your channel, I guess depending on what is discussed, different member of the forum could do an episode. You, myxini (who can do great young attenborough impression, and Uru, who basically can kill it since he has 'the voice', he's done some voice acting if I recall correctly). We have artists and animators as well, who can work on both the e-magazine and the youtube channel.

Costs for the time and energy? I guess some ad revenue? Half the reward is also the promotion of the forum, themselves or their projects. Many here study scientific fields in college, many have finished college too, so perhaps this could be a way to popularize themselves with the masses, not unlike Phil Plait, or Sara Seager :). I have a lot of ideas, but it takes active involvement from others too, not just you and me.

Though, if there's some way I can help out with the channel, yeah, let me know.

The channel kind of came up in a separate venue then on the forum itself. Frankly, no one seemed to give enough care to make either one. Me and Marcello (revin) just kind of went and made it on our own (mostly him), without the forum much in mind. It's more or less just him, with occasional input from me, and some feedback and appreciation coming from some other members. Evidently, it's rather new and still in development and experimenting phase, I'd put it.

I don't even really like this song that much but the title is pretty relatable sometimes, I guess.

That's great, that you guys took the time off and dedicate lot of it on this. I think maybe the other members are waiting to see where this goes, before really taking the time and energy to contribute more.

Though I think a few members were serious when they offered their help, you know who they are. Perhaps you guys should contact them and see what they can do for you and when.

Ooh, a zine featuring member projects would be pretty cool. It could be an annual thing or just a one-off release but would be a good medium to help us share the hobby with our friends and such.

Okay, getting back into this, since I somehow failed to notice any replies to me until just now, there are several ways you can participate. Namely, you can:

a) send me audio files of yourself speaking a script (if there is a script somewhere you are willing to read), preferably through the forum or email;
b) submit concepts for videos to make, just post it on the YouTube channel thread;
c) submit a script for a video, through the YouTube channel thread, PM, or Google Drive; and
d) edit a script by me or another forum member.

I may in the future be willing to let others do animation etc., but I'll stick to these for the time being.
