| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. I was running through the project, and I remembered the names people gave for the various islands. This made me realise that we should have a topic for the smaller islands around the main three. So here it is, this is essentially a topic for naming and refining the other islands in the archipelago. There is one already named* by Hybrid (Island of Giant Orchids) Official Islands: The Island of Giant Orchids-South East of Isa Lahud Island Chain-North of Isa: Moana (northmost island, means ocean in tahitian, and is named so for it being the northmost island in the archipelago) Māfatu (south of moana, means heart in tahitian, and is named so for being near the middle of this chain of islands) Fatata (south of Māfatu, and is the closest island to Isa, this word means near in tahitian, and is of course, named so for being one of the closest islands to Isa) Atatu (East of Fatata, and means right in Tahitian. It is named so for being the most eastward island in this chain) Ahi-West of Telu (South of Mura) Mura-North West of Telu (North of Ahi) (Acineta)-West of Dura Place filler name until replacement is found Takitoru Isles-South East of Isa: Tuatahi (Northen most island, means first in Maori) Tuarua (South of Tuatahi, means second in Maori) Tuatoru (South of Tuarua, means third in Maori) Drievoudig Isles-South West of Isa/North West of Dusa: Bijna eerste (Northen most island, means almost first in Dutch (due to not being 'first' (Tuatahi))) Bijna een tweede (South of Bijna eerste, means almost second in Dutch (due to not being 'second' (Tuarua))) Bijna een derde (South of Bijna een tweede, means almost third in Dutch (due to not being 'third' (Tutaoru))) Hihifó Isles-South West of Dusa/North West of Telu: Ra (Northern most island, means sun in Maori)** Marama (South of Ra, means moon in Maori)** Whetu (South of Marama, means stars in Maori)** Motu-East of Isa (closer island) Papé -East of Isa (further island) Tahanga Isles-South east of Telu: Pūrei (southernmost island in the Tahanga chain. Means cluster or isolated group) Mōwai (northernmost island in the Tahanga chain. Means desolate) Île Casteldary -South East of Dusa (largest island, closest to Dusa. Named after Casteldary (fictional), a French explorer and one of the main French explorers of the Anisian islands) Île Dumont d'Urville -South East of Dusa (smaller island, east of Île Casteldary. Named after Dumont d'Urville, one of the greatest French navigators) Île de La Pérouse-South East of Dusa (smaller island, east of Île de La Pérouse. Named after La Pérouse , one of the greatest French navigators) Spoiler: click to toggle * **They are so named due to their importance to the Dutch Explorers in mapping the stars in the Southern Hemisphere. They also have exceptionally great views of the sky. |

There are no islands south east of Isa left to name. Do you mean South East of Dusa? |

Updated the map and list of islands. Only 11 left to name (including renaming Acineta) |

I'm contemplating a post for Motu and Pape about its habitats, plus various animals that reside there, due to its isolation. |

I had an idea for coastal diving pterosaurs there; ala Pteranodontids, but with a more basal group. |
totally not British, b-baka! You like me (Unlike)I don't even really like this song that much but the title is pretty relatable sometimes, I guess. Me What, you want me to tell you what these mean? Read First Words Maybe | |

Hm, since we have not found a suitable replacement name for Acineta, do you think we could keep that island named as Acineta? Also, I started on a draft for Motu and Pape on my iPad, which I will continue tomorrow. I'm not going to publish it for a bit, I'm going to have to figure out a suitable format to put it in, since it will be both a habitat profile and a profile about several animals. If anyone cares enough to know what I'm planning (should it be conflicting with other plans people may have), some of the animals planned include an owl-like bludgeon, bush wren-like birds descended from vastanavis, and tiny dilophosaurs. Also bigger ground cherries, because Giant Tomatillios are not big enough. Edited by Datura, Feb 12 2015, 12:13 AM.

I count only ten unnamed islands that are actually shown on the map. Should we just name all of them at this point, even the unimportant ones? |
