Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

Life is all about crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you and hearing the lamentations of their women.

I guess that works.

Life is service to the greater good. If you exist, you are obligated to make the world a better place. If you do not, you're scum unworthy of existence.

Meh, that's a little harsh, in my opinion. I mean, I agree with the "do your best to make the world a better place" thing, but I generally disagree with the "scum unworthy of existence" bit. The only people who I think are "scum unworthy of existence" are the people who actively make the world a worse place. Some people are just, y'know, trying to live. Saying that they shouldn't exist just because they're not actively trying to make a better world seems borderline cruel to me.
Dumb Quotes

Coming Soon/To be Rebooted:

How To Hunt Gods - Everything you need to know about Gods and the art of God-killing.

Intrazoology - The world of semi-corporeal lifeforms. A world you walk through every day, without even knowing it.

The Dungeonverse - Magical creatures forced to adapt in huge, underground caverns, while surface-dwelling humans go dungeoneering for treasure.

Crossover - A mish-mash of worlds, with Earth smack in the middle of the chaos. What could go wrong?

no worries

Life is "that which Mikey likes."

If you don't get it, you haven't watched enough 70s TV.

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

L'évolution Spéculative est moi

Have you people never seen Conan the Barbarian? That's a direct quote... Anyways life for me is all about taking it all in. Achieving great things is cool and all, but is anybody really going to remember you in the end? A century from now? A millennium? Ten thousand years? A million? Personally my goal in life is to have a good plot of land to myself someday, one I can farm on and live a quiet life away from people and their shit. Maybe open some kind of small farm-to-plate restaurant thing or become a partner in one? I'd like to brew mead to sell at least. I dunno I just want to live on a farm far away from others.
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

To have the opportunity to eat cookies and communicate with other humans in this forum

I dunno, I never really thought about it. I guess life is being able to experience most of the things you do, as in consciously being able to perform tasks and observe/feel any outcomes you make with your actions...with the exception of unexpected or random events that occur every now and then.

Proud quilt in a bag

I could pull out some big, detailed quote, or write something similar myself, but I think this one does well enough (thank you goodreads!):
Katharine Hepburn (whoever that is...)

“If you always do what interests you, at least one person is pleased.”
If you've enjoyed the ride, then I suppose that's what matters.
totally not British, b-baka!

I don't even really like this song that much but the title is pretty relatable sometimes, I guess.

What, you want me to tell you what these mean?

Ooh, this is an interesting one :p. I can confirm I'm no nihilist by any means, as that ideology (or lack of) simply cannot be lived consistently (not even Nietzsche himself did) or helpfully. I find it from a number of things, particularly belief, community, helping my fellow man, and being able to have objective purpose in mind. I probably shouldn't go much further than that in case people get offended or bored, but it's an honest recap of my viewpoint.
