Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

This actually exists in the same universe as my main Spec Evo project, but not on the same planet as it. It was made partially by genetic modification in order to be rodent control on terraformed worlds. However, the stonecrop-like plates evolved on their own over time. The sucess of the species in rodent control was noticed, and so it was introduced to several terraformed planets

Stonecrop Viper
Parvulubitis sedumvenandi
Average lifespan: 10 years
Diet: rodents, insects, worms, etc.
Ancestor: Gaboon Viper
Habitat: mountainous, craggy regions in many terraformed planets throughout the empire

Stonecrop Vipers are smaller in order to conserve energy, to better navigate the crags, and to better hide within the stonecrops they had evolved to blend in with. Stonecrop Vipers will hunt anything that moves and will fit in their mouth, though generally they only use their venom for larger prey such as rodents. Stonecrop Vipers are ambush predators, hiding within patches of succulent plants- the primary food for any animal in it's habitat. when prey draws near, it strikes, and tracks prey down to where it collapsed shortly after 'escaping'. The venom of the Stonecrop Viper causes rapid paralysis.

I had an idea for a mole that re-evolved eyes.

I have several, may or may not use these:
-pseudo birds evolved from protoceratops, have membranous wings
-genetically modified freshwater octopus, learned to walk on land, leaves terrestrial decendents
-genetically modified turtle that grows food on its back, waste acts as fertilizer
That’s all I have for now.
Projects I'm probably going to do:

Evolutionary continuum:
Currently unnamed project- takes place 250 million years after the extinction of man
Alternative Evolution:
The Sanctuary- The best zoo in the world
The Habitable Zone:
Sapients of the universe- exactly what it sounds like
Alternate universes:
A bestiary of the land of Hyrule- again, exactly what it sounds like
Ixuligaxa- A Sheatheria-esque project but the wildlife came from the orvadacian and earlier.
Café Cosmique:
Ultimate power- A gritty reboot of Power rangers, but not too gritty, some xenobiology and posthumans
The menagerie- A world where a team is formed to combat the increase of crimes by Folklorish and Mythological creatures
To Sum It Up- a bestseller in the sanctuary universe, It focuses on Rises and Falls, Trials of the century, and the worst of the worst

Giant predatory bipedal posthuman of an alternate Maastrichtian. Crushing jaws and skull overall similar to a hyena. Not sure what position, but probably a tail-dragger like outdated theropods. Basically, imagine Tyrannosaurus rex as a posthuman.

I had a project idea about a terraformed planet where the only lifeforms introduced were modified photosynthetic salamanders. A descendant clade would be of tree-like organisms which have "wood*" made of bone.

I’m thinking of a bat that can fly, walk, and swim. I’m calling it the ATM (all-terrain mammal), named after an All-Terrain Vehicle. Just a silly idea!

How about a typical bipedal bird that ditched it's legs and started walking on it's wings alone.

Future seas ruled by marine reptiles. Fully marine lizards separately descended from monitor lizards, New Zealand diving skinks and marine iguanas (the latter being much like the fully marine ground sloths, the other two like mosasaurs). Sea snakes become larger and/or more specialized to underwater life. Basically, imagine a Mesozoic-esque sea with the land and sky still being mostly dominated by birds and mammals.

Several species of posthumans with hypertrophied nasal passages and sagittal crests, used for both communication and display in their social structure.

Alright so i just finished drawing a batch of organisms that i might use in a future project, some of these may not seem the most plausible so if they aren't please tell me.

A small aquatic mammal that has evovled from the alpaca.

Large carnivorous snakes that evovled from mud snakes.

Pitcher plants evolving bioluminescet to attract prey.

Theropod like reptiles that evovled from the frilled lizard.

Large armored rat descendants that have armadillo like armour.

Aquatic birds that have evovled from the cassowary.

Giant sailed back descendats of alligator gars.

Flying omnivorous scorpions.

Raparia

Future project ideas:
Tale of the horned beasts - A alternate evolution project where ceratosaurus never went extinct and instead evovled to better fit the new challenges they shall face ahead of them.

Umber - A alternate universe project where portals have been opening up to a moon named "umber" other then a few species of freshwater and saltwater fish, as well as invertebrates. Pangolins,Iguanas,Noasauriade, and Cuttlefish are the most prominet group of animals.

Very few ideas are inherently implausible from the get go as long as they’re explained well. For example, while the idea of flying clam descendants might sound absurd and implausible at first, a thorough explanation for how and why such a change could occur would make the concept far more realistic. In other words, don’t dismiss any idea out of hand. If you want to, just go for it!
If you like balloons, the color red, or mixotrophic plants derived from photosynthetic vertebrate-analogues, then check out my xenobiology project Solais
