Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

Godzilla isn't exactly rooted in biological plausibility, though.

No I was just saying there was monster like this that was in a TV show. I didn't even mention that it was plausible

Who knows what could potentially be possible
Theoritically anything is possible, one just needs to think hard enough. But what is theoretically possible may not be possible in practice.

Religion, rationality, and civilization are all lies, they are simply manifestations of basic instincts.

I wouldn't go as far as that, but I agree people can be closed minded sometimes and assume they know exactly what would happen in an imaginary scenario. We try to do it to the best of our ability, but we are still fallible and we are just as subject to change as the earlier 'generations' of speccers, so chronological snobbery isn't an option here.

Oh trust me, in five years we'll look back at discussions form today, and laugh.

Except JohnFaa. Luck seems to be on his side in terms of always being right.

I don't even really like this song that much but the title is pretty relatable sometimes, I guess.

The dngalingoolingopusswhateverthehellisthisacus bartfartcandyanusfmkjwe: This assine arthropod feeds on marsupials that it catches with tacos and it uses it telekinesis to eat monkeys, but this cetacean fails to catch a measly fly. Humans want the dngalingoolingopusswhateverthehellisthisacus to go extinct from how stupidly terrible it is. It has an anus the size of Kamineighs face just because it can. While this Sheatherian Swiftlet cannot fly it can fly while it's swimming and flying. It is the size of a flea that is the size of an elephant that is the size of a flea. It is the best lover in the world, because it mates for makes. That does not make sense unless you're a hot dog in marinera sauce. This opossum has a brain the size of an atom, so it's absurdly stupid it also has 4 vaginas and half a penis! Isn't the dngalingoolingopusswhateverthehellisthisacus wonderful?!

Dude, I thought you'd stopped these 'lol so random' posts. Go ahead and make a joke project and fill it with whatever stuff you like, but this a serious thread. Sorry, but I thought I would speak my mind.

I meant to say which forum section, I suppose Café Cosmique is the section appropiate for that kind of thing.

Or Forum Games, I didn't expect General Spec though for joke projects.

Monkey-like Tree Kangaroos evolve in a more northern Australia (combined with New Guinea) roughly 25 MYH.

EDIT: These are actually canon in a project I'm writing at the minute. But due to my track record of being unable to keep projects going long term I've decided to write a massive project covering a lot of areas in just one post. Needless to say it won't be ready for a loooong time. :D

Large squid/cuttlefish that use their siphon to squirt a jet of water at seabirds flying overhead, similar to how archerfish hunt insects.
