Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I personally love Baker's voice acting, especially in the Last of Us and Far Cry 4, but he's just no Joker. For me, Mark Hamill will always be the definitive Joker.

Yeah but Hamill's retired now, so we gotta have a replacement.

Yep, you heard it right from the horse's mouth people, Frank Miller, America's favorite comic book nut-job has returned to DC Comics to right a new Batman comic.

And it's apply named "The Master Race!"

Considering how faulty his work was in the past, and how DC now a'days is under the influence of pis-poor management, who's betting this new story is just going to be a re-hash of Holy Terror (Ironic since that was originally going to be a Batman story) where it's about Middle-Eastern Folk being the future Nazis?

And for those of you who were waiting to see the Joker in the new Suicide Squad movie, here he is!

And MAN is it underwhelming!

Now let me get some things out of the way here. Does he have pale skin? Yes! Does he have the bright green hair and red mouth? Yes! Does he indeed look like the Joker? Yes... and no!

I can see what there going for, I get that they're probably borrowing reference from the Grant Morrison's Joker in some of his earlier work in DC. But here's the thing though... I hated Grant Morrison's take on the Joker! I just do! I hated it in Batman R.I.P., I hated it in Batman Inc, and I hated it in his Batman and Robin series. It's basically the same problem I have with Scott Snyder's Joker really, I mean yes the Joker is supposed to be sick and twisted kind'a dude... but really? This is supposed to look crazy?

Crazy is in the eye of the beholder, being crazy doesn't just apply to having an exaggerative expression, people can be crazy in other ways. And there's the tattoos, which I suppose is a reference to the Joker's dragon tattoo for #8 of All-Star Batman & Robin... but let me tell ya something: Reminding people of one of Frank Miller's piss poor books is never a good way to endear them to your own work! But the idea of a tattooed Joker is not a bad one in of itself, it's just that the kinds of tattoos just aren't very creative (Save for the smiles on his right lower arm, and the "Subtle" HaHaHas' has over his left chest side) and they are rather unnecessary when put in context.

As for the false teeth? Kind'a makes sense, since he's been duking it out with Batman multiple times (Then again the Joker seems to have this ability to regenerate teeth like a shark in the comics, go figure) And then there's the expression itself:

Joker clenching his hair with a "Crazy" look on his face, which I admit may be Leto playing cute and referencing the Killing Joke... except for one problem-- The Joker here is just gaping his mouth open... that's it! He's not laughing nor at least smiling, just gaping his mouth wide open... Let me repeat that:

THE JOKER... THE CLOWN PRINCE OF CRIME... THE MAN WHO LAUGHS... IS NOT SMILING!!

At least when Heath Ledger got away with it, it was a different take on the Joker! That Joker was supposed to be a more realistic one (Depending on the definition of "Realism") who was set in a more realistic world where there are no superheroes. That was not the same universe as the shared DC continuity! But even then, he was still acting like the Joker, just in his own way.

And I suppose that's what Jared Leto is doing to, putting his own spin on the Joker while still looking true to the actual character design. But this poster right here, does not define anything else, there's not personality, no true character, all we see is Jared Leto as the Joker (A shirtless Joker anyway, still waiting on the costume... unless that IS is costume) ... and that's it!

Now I'm not saying this is a bad design, or a bad creative or artistic decision, again we had our doubts on Heath Ledger's Joker and that turned out great! (Although I gotta get this out of the way. While I to enjoyed Ledger's performance, I never truly saw it as the best interpretation of the character, but that's just me.)

So only time well tell whether it's worth it, and who knows? Maybe they might improve on this just before the finish production.

Yet more reasons as to what makes Superman a much better hero than people tend to give him credit for.

@Troy Troodon: I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Remember, this is Suicide Squad Joker--in other words, we're seeing him in a role we haven't before, that of an antihero rather than a villain. And without Batman, to boot. We'll have to wait and see if they can pull this off and keep his essential personality intact.

Also, has anybody noticed that, except for Teen Titans Go!, there are currently NO DC comics animated series airing new episodes?
