Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Something tells me you haven't actually consumed enough of the source material to have actually gotten a grasp on Superman.

None of us are huge, musclebound former WWE stars, but we can all relate to how sweet-hearted and goofy Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is.
You're right, I haven't read nearly as many DC comic books as I'd like to. I am very familiar with Marvel ones though, particularly Spider Man.

Martian Manhunter > Superman. He's got a similar backstory, but without the "saviour of mankind" bollocks, and is thus a nicer, more down to earth dude, who just deals with people on a much more sensible level. He's also smarter, and has mind powers! Also, more powerful, by Supes' own admission. But then, I've not read much of the material, maybe some author or other wrote Jonn as a homicidal maniac with daddy issues or some such nonsense.

Superman never calls himself the savior of mankind.

Yeah, because he knew his son was going to be the strongest thing on that world, with technology that they could only dream of.

When Jor-El was speaking of 'uplifting them' he meant it quite literally.

It's the equivalent of a modern person going to medieval France and teaching them how to build a combustion engine and and how to make quality steel, while also being much taller and stronger than them by virtue of the fact that you're from the future.

Yeah, I get all that. I just like Jonn more because he's not a pompous jackass about his ability to help people. He doesn't show off, he just gets the job done. He's also not aggressively white middle class American while pretending not to be.

Also, if Supes actually taught people how to build Kryptonian tech, your argument might have some extra weight. :p

Thing is, Supes isn't a pompous jackass. That would be Lex Luthor.

Supes deliberately doesn't show off this tech to mankind. He values people making progress on their own, without outside help from anyone else. The moon landing would have meant a whole lot less if it was based on alien tech.

Something tells me you've never actually read and analyzed a Superman comic before. Or at least one written by people who actually get him.

It's more than that. The guys also an alien with completely different biology within, has absurd levels of physical and mental power to back it up, and has vast technological advantages etc. Contrary to popular arrogant belief, people in the medieval world were no less intelligent, intuitive or strong than they are today,, they just hadn't got the resources or understanding of technology we now have. We still don't know exactly how the pyramids or Stonehenge were built without modern construction tech, since the techniques have long been lost on us- some people just assume that people living in the past were dumb as rocks and therefore say 'aliens did it' when faced with marvellous wonders.
A more suitable analogy (if any can work at all) would be sending a human down to ants to proselytise technology to them. Even they might not be enough- supermans physical and technological feats would be so vast in their impact on human beings it's hard to comprehend.

Except for the part where we know exactly how the Pyramids and Stonehenge were built.

A couple nitpicks... I think Batgirl's going a tad overboard with her actions here, and as much as I love Tara Strong, I feel that she may be getting too old for the role of this particular character.

And I know it's early on to criticize, but I feel Mark Hamill's laugh is a little lack luster and not as conventional as his previous performance in Arkham Knight (And this is coming from a guy who doesn't even like that game)

But who knows, perhaps the execution of this project is handled better than the teasers we got so far.

I especially like the artwork in the animation, it's like a neat blend between Dusty Abell, Jon Suzuki, and even Bruce Timm himself. (With just a touch of Phil Bourassa of course)

And while I can see the Killing Joke getting away with a PG-13 rating (As I've brought up a couple times before), as Bruce Timm himself mentions, I honestly wouldn't mind if it is rated-R, just so long as it's for a reason in context that's not added for further shock then already intended. (I mean lets face it, even though it's a Batman story, it's obviously not for kids... but I can't say it's ONLY for adults)

Sophist to say, I am definitely looking forward to it, although I still feel Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Tara Strong respectively are getting too old for their roles; and even new talent should take over like Rodger Craig Smith, Troy Baker, and Ashley Greene, but it's a welcome return none the less. ^^

I can't repost it if I deleted the original post.

But anyway, I just we should change the topic and share our thoughts on this new movie coming.

You mean Batman V Superman?
THE KILLING JOKE!!

You know, the animated adaptation of Alan Moore's comic, the one with Mark Hamill reprising as The Joker?!

(Sorry, I don't mean to sound aggressive.)
