Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I don't think we have a topic for this one yet, which is weird because I'd expect a lot of people here on the forum have seen it or would like to. Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts on the movie in this topic.

Assault rifle wielding apes. On horseback.

The ape culture was real cool too, as well as the awesome hunting scene in the beginning.

Also Archie, you misspelled planet.
Projects and concepts that I have stewing around
Extended Pleistocene- An alternate future where man died out, and the megafauna would continue to thrive (may or may not include a bit about certain future sapients)
Inverted World- An alternate timeline where an asteroid hit during the Barremian, causing an extinction event before the Maastrichtian. Dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and notosuchians make it to the present, along with a host of other animals.
Badania- Alien planet that has life at a devonian stage of development, except it exists in the present day.
Ido- Alien world where hoppers (derived flightless ballonts) and mouthpart-legged beasts are prevalent.
Leto- Life on a moon orbiting a gas giant with an erratic orbit; experiences extremes of hot and cold.
The Park- ???
Deeper Impact- a world where the K-Pg extinction wipes out crocodilians, mammals, and birds; squamates, choristoderes, and turtles inherit the earth.
World of Equal Opportunity- alternate history where denisovans come across Beringia and interact with native fauna. Much of the Pleistocene fauna survives, and the modern humans that end up crossing into North America do not overhunt the existing animals. 10,000 years later, civilizations exist that are on par with European and Asian societies.
The Ditch- Nothing is what if seems..

Warning to the unwise, this is a topic about the movie, so, huge surprise, my comment is about the movie's plot.

It was really good. Maybe the only thing that bugged me was that Caesar might've been able to avoid the whole war if he executed Dickface McGee for brandishing a shotgun in his domain and for attacking his sons, but let the rest of the humans continue working on the dam. That way, Koba might've not thought that Caesar was too human-loving to make correct decisions.

The whole thing was great, but there were some things that bugged me. In the beginning hunt seen, you have arboreal predators with ranged weapons in the trees, away from danger. Then they yell and give away their position, and start a stampede, and jump down into the middle of it. It just didn't make much sense.

Of course, that's relatively minor, and doesn't affect the plot, so I can just pretend that they stayed in the trees and hurled spears at elk in the red woods.

The scene where (Koba?) killed the bear was pretty cool.

The scene where Caesar watched the tape (which features his former owner teaching him sign language) back from his childhood was sad.

(Yes I know a lot about the franchise and I have been waiting for this sequel for a couple of years).

I remember avoiding this thread year before last because I hadn't seen this yet.

I've now seen it. I liked it. Kind of sad, though.

I love Maurice's character.
