| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. here's where you can talk about animation, your favorite animated shows, movies and web shows and pretty much animation in general. Note when I say animation I mean all styles (traditionally drawn, CGI, stop motion and flash) and from all countries. |

My favorite animated movies of all time were Balto and Princess Mononoke; both had interesting animation styles I've seen in no other movie, and the plots are interesting. Too bad the first has disgusting sequels and the later none. |

I saw princess mononoke. Have you seen any other Hayao Mayazaki films? He seems to have this thing for young girls as main characters in films. hmmmm. That, and giant airships. Did you see Nausicaa? |

I liked the Castle in the Sky. And what kind of animation topic would this be without a mention of Dragon Ball Z? I grew up watching that, back in the mid 90's. I remember coming home from school and Toonami would come on and run from 5-9. Shows like DBZ, Gundam, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo...I remember the Toonami Midnight Runs as well...Then damn Adult Swim came and took over the night. I don't even know what Toonami has become, if it even runs anymore...I like some of the new anime they show; Death Note in particular. As for other styles, I want to learn how to make CGI animation so I can make my aliens better. I can't exactly draw, nor can I shade well...But CGI is simpler (for me anyways). The animation is the hard part. If I'm going to make aliens with CGI, I'm going to make documentaries instead of just pictures. Less typing, plus you get a better understanding of how they live and their environment. It's hard though, I don't exactly have money for good software, nor lessons... |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

I've also seen Kiki (I don't remember the name; I just call that movie Kiki because of the titular character), Sprited Away and The Moving Castle. His movies are very interesting, specially Princess Mononoke and Sprited Away, which deal with japonese mythology and actually partially inspired my views on theology (yeah, I'm not just interested in evolution and furries). I also like the way the villains in his movies aren't really evil, unlike the typical bad guys. The only of Hayao's movies I didn't enjoyed was Kiki, which lacked a villain. And yes, I also noted the amount of little girl heroines, but I'm really more into the boys and animals in the movies. |

I've seen Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and I just recently bought Spirited Away. I saw Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro in Japanese class in primary school (but I remember them only vaguely). I wasn't into Dragon Ball Z because it was too violent for my tastes (the same reason why I'm having doubts about watching Princess Mononoke) |

I enjoy many Japanese anime. Last Exile was interesting, as was Black Lagoon. Modern Pirates fighting neo-nazis. Can't get much better than that. But my favorite of all is Azumanga Daioh. Perhaps because it saved be from turning emo, but more likely because it is the 3rd best thing man has created after the Saturn V and the Polio Vaccine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azumanga_Daioh |

Ok a lot of anime are a bit odd but this sounds, frankly a but mental. Strike Witchs Teenage girl moe anthropomorphism of fighter planes that use magic. Clip What? What? WHAT? |
