Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Genomorphs is an idea that I've been tossing around for a while. It probably has its origins in my NeoSaur SPORE creations (which, in turn, inspired the mildly successful XenoCorp and possibly Genome Corporation RP sites). The basic idea is a fairly standard "mon"-type game, but with a twist- the creatures are all designed by their masters.

A Genomorph consists of two separate organisms; the first is a small, worm-like creature called a Neurite. Neurites serve as the "brain" of a Genomorph, and are placed inside larger organisms called Somas to form a whole Genomorph. Somas are taken from one of three templates (Brute, Stalker, or Striker) and modified using DNA from various organisms, ranging from bacteria to complex animals. Armed with such abilities, Genomorphs are pitted against one another in battles for fun and fame. Fortunately for the Genomorphs, Neurites can easily switch into a new Soma if their current one is destroyed and don't really feel pain the way normal creatures do. The Somas themselves may be totally destroyed, but they have no central nervous system to speak of and so it's no worse than killing a plant.

So yeah, those are the basics. There's also some background story stuff and specific rules I've though of, but I'll just leave it here for now. TL;DR, think miniature biological mecha controlled by worms.

No; Genomorphs have minimum and maximum size requirements. Besides, Neurites are all the same size, so that limits how small Genomorphs can be.
What are the mins and maxes?

Well, Neurites are about six inches long, so a Genomorph has to be large enough to protect its Neurite. The maximum size is about as large as a horse.

Previously you stated the largest possible size was the size of a rhino.

Yep. He's a manticore. No wings, though. I could've had decorative ones, but to me it just seemed like another weak spot.

This reminds me of the Rahkshi from Bionicle because they are controlled by worms.
