Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Genomorphs is an idea that I've been tossing around for a while. It probably has its origins in my NeoSaur SPORE creations (which, in turn, inspired the mildly successful XenoCorp and possibly Genome Corporation RP sites). The basic idea is a fairly standard "mon"-type game, but with a twist- the creatures are all designed by their masters.

A Genomorph consists of two separate organisms; the first is a small, worm-like creature called a Neurite. Neurites serve as the "brain" of a Genomorph, and are placed inside larger organisms called Somas to form a whole Genomorph. Somas are taken from one of three templates (Brute, Stalker, or Striker) and modified using DNA from various organisms, ranging from bacteria to complex animals. Armed with such abilities, Genomorphs are pitted against one another in battles for fun and fame. Fortunately for the Genomorphs, Neurites can easily switch into a new Soma if their current one is destroyed and don't really feel pain the way normal creatures do. The Somas themselves may be totally destroyed, but they have no central nervous system to speak of and so it's no worse than killing a plant.

So yeah, those are the basics. There's also some background story stuff and specific rules I've though of, but I'll just leave it here for now. TL;DR, think miniature biological mecha controlled by worms.

You can literally tear your enemies apart as long as you don't hurt the Neurite. Nature ain't pretty. :P

In theory, could a tiny creature, like bug sized, penetrate into a soma, get to the neurite, and defeat it that way?

No; Genomorphs have minimum and maximum size requirements. Besides, Neurites are all the same size, so that limits how small Genomorphs can be.

Well, there goes that idea. I´ll keep starfish DNA for it´s spiny skin.

And because after spending one hour drawing scales and ambulacral feet i do NOT want to start over

Okay guys, there's now an official sign-up and discussion topic for this. Re-submit your Genomorphs there, decide who you want to battle, and make sure to read the updated rules!

Except humans. That's a big no-no. Besides, the only human trait that's worth using is intelligence, and that's determined by the Neurite, not the Soma.
Yes, because humans totally don't have awesome abilities besides intelligence.

Like how absurd their endurance is, being able to run longer than pretty much every land animal on Earth. Or their stupidly accurate throwing ability that they take for granted when their closest relative, the chimpanzee, can't throw with nearly the same accuracy. Or maybe their ability to use their environment to their advantage to take on nearly any enemy. Or perhaps the fact that their dentition is more resilient than that of their relatives because of how it has to endure so much punishment. Or the fact that even the weakest of humans can toss boulders when they have to.

Let's face it, you banned humans because they're over-powered, not because they have only one useful trait. Just you remember that, Russ. The only reason you exist is because your ancestors were the biggest Mary Sues to have walked the Earth. Humans are amazing creatures and are much more than their intelligence, just as sharks are much more than eating machines.

Here's a visual representation of what I've done to your argument:

I was listening to epic music while I was reading that....
"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"

Well, there are already some major ethics issues in making genetically modified creatures for bloodsports. I think part humans may be just a bit over the top. No need to make PETA want to kill you even more badly.
