| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. “Hello and welcome to Crossover Fight Club, where we take concepts from throughout media and pit them together to see who comes out on top. I am your host, Man-X. Now ordinarily on any other show of this nature, they would pad out the first 50 minutes with in depth scientific research of their battle subjects that they may or may not have pulled out of their ass. This show, however, does not have access to such analysis. At least not yet. So fortunately for you, were just going to show the fun part, the battle. Unfortunately, we have yet to produce any of these battles. Were still forming here, and although we have a few battle ideas lined up, suggestions are welcome. Also any tips on organization, cause we are going pretty much unscripted right now, and I feel like I’m just rambling at this point. So for now we sign off and we’ll see you next time with our first battle… Bioshock Bouncer V.S L4D Tank” |

"...We'll keep it in the file" Also quick note, I don't know how often this will be updating. I will try and keep up, but it will probably not be today. My heart isn't in it right now. |

Let’s set the scene. On November 5th, 1946, Andrew Ryan set out to build his vision of utopia, where you can live your life without of the “parasites” who ask for their share of your profit. This concept took shape just off the coast of Iceland, and it was here that the substance known as ADAM was discovered. ADAM is a kind of unstable stem cell that allows for quick and easy manipulation of the genetic code. Anything is possible, from cosmetic changes to granting the user superpowers. Soon everyone wanted this miracle product, but the slugs couldn’t produce enough to get by. Soon walking ADAM factories were created in the form of Little Sisters, innocent girls brainwashed and implanted with the slugs, so that everyone could get a fare share. But these girls needed protection, or else anyone could just take them and the ADAM for themselves. As such, the Big Daddies were born. But all was not well in Rapture. As it turned out, the ADAM had a…side effect. The stem cells slowly damaged the user, making them physically and mentally scared. Soon most of the denizens of Rapture go insane, and roves of zombie like creatures called splicers take over the once prosperous city. As the years pass and land falls into disrepair, the sea begins to reclaim its. Meanwhile on the surface, the ‘parasites’ have problems of there own. In late September of 2009, a resident of Pennsylvania is infected with an unknown viral infection that possesses the host and has them attack to spread the disease. Within two weeks the infection has spread across the eastern seaboard and thousands of infected wander the streets. However, some people were infected with a special strain of the disease that mutates them into special forms of infected. One such kind is the Tank, whose muscle mass has multiplied to extremes. It’s this hulking brute that will meet up with Bouncer as it finally reaches land after years of wandering the Atlantic seabed since Rapture fell. “Wow, this is taking longer than I thought it would.” It’s work Man-X, just got to deal with it. |

In the grey dankness of early night, the cries of the infected and the rings of gunfire pierce the air. Along the shoreline, the sea is an eerie placid that hasn’t been seen in years. The constant movement of boats in and out of the harbor has died along with society. Nothing moves on the surface. Just under, however, something plods its way into shallow water, eventually breaking the smooth surface with its massive domed head. More of the creatures form is revealed as it finally makes landfall, pressing its massing boots into something other than seabed for the first time in the months it has traveled. It stops for a moment to survey this new environment. Just in front of it the decaying buildings of an abandoned city just barely stand. The beast feels comfortable. This isn’t much different from the world he left behind. Stomping his massive metallic foot forward, it begins the trek inland. It stomps through what were once the streets of down town, its heavy diving boots making audible clinks with each step. As it gets deeper into the city, it starts to attract attention. An idle infected wandering aimlessly in a nearby ally hears the clatter of its movements and charges blindly at the source. The behemoth sees the man coming and absent mindedly backhands him. It is used to dealing with far worse than him. However, when the man gets back up and tries again, it decided to nip this problem in the bud. It meets the infected in the middle with a charge of its own, not stopping until the man is sandwiched between it and a parked car. The sound of the blaring alarm is quickly drowned out by the screams of a hoard of angry infected that file into the street. The big daddy faces the mob, ready to fight its way out of this problem. However, before they could make it, a wall from one of the buildings collapses, crushing the front end of the wave and trapping the rest behind the rubble. As the dust clears, the thing that caused the wreckage can start to be seen. It stands like an ape, with bulging muscles that seem unnatural for any living creature to have. A tiny head pops out of the top of this monstrous torso, a limp tongue flopping out of where the mouth should be. This beast stares down the metal outsider, pounding its fists into the pavement in a display of intimidation. The big daddy revs up its drill in response, the port holes in its helmet glowing red as it readies itself for battle. “Now let’s see, ‘How to write a fight scene’…” The Tank made the first move, ripping out a chink of pavement and hurling it at the Big Daddy. It turned to block, letting the bolder slam into its metal armor. By the time it recovered, the Tank was already on it, its massive fist leaving a sizable dent in the helmet. The Bouncer retaliated, shoving the hulking beast off and slamming its drill into the chest. The Tank manages to punch the drill aside and lunge at the bouncer once more. The two exchange blows as there brawl makes its way down the street the metal man once walked down, eventually ending up on a pier. The big daddy manages one good shove and finishes with a charge, slamming into the Tank and sending both of them falling into the sand below. Pinned under a ton of metal, the infected brawler is unable to move, helpless at the Big Daddy brings down its drill right onto its head and Frappes away. The solemn guardian gets back up and continues its desolate trek through this new, dry world. Edited by trex841, Jul 22 2013, 10:15 AM.
