| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I like Pandora, which is why I like the hand guide to the movie. |

Barlowe worked on Avatar too, but in my opinion his visual style is better represented in PR. There is concept art of Knifehead that looks like it came out of Expedition.

I just had the image of a sea strider in PR. Impractical, but awesome. |

Oh, that reminds me. "When the Kaiju came back for revenge, they didn't come from a hole in the ocean, they rained down from the skies. Space. We were forced underground for survival. But we never thought that we would find it there… the proof that mankind had gone through this before… a symbol of hope… we named it GURREN LAGANN.”

I really liked the fact it wasn't just the Murricans shown fighting the aliens, I wish I could have seen more of the Jaegers like Coyote Tango:![]() Also with all of these nations unifying and working together you have to wonder what happened to North Korea, were they forced to capitulate and cooperate? Did they just get torn apart by Kaijiu? Or did they spend all their money on building some ridiculous Jaeger vanity project which was ultimately destroyed due to them not being technologically up to speed. I doubt they would ever show that because it would make the film too political but it is certainly interesting to speculate. |

They were probably able to rely on everyone else. China, Russia and Japan pretty much surround them. |

And Cherno! And Tacit Ronin! And Crimson Typhoon! ALL THE JAEGERS!
I've really been wondering about that. What makes it even more interesting is that South Korea had a Jaeger (Nova Hyperion) but nothing is said of the North. No doubt that if a Kaiju attacked, other nations in the region would send their Jaegers over to defend, but the political effects of the Kaiju War on the NK government are very interesting to speculate about. When faced with giant monsters, it's plausible to imagine international collaboration to defeat them... but that's a bit out of character for NK... |

I could imagine them attempting to build their own Jaeger at the expense of everything else. Although the Jaeger would be hopelessly outmatched by the others due to the technological gap. Or perhaps if the country were absolutely devastated the South could possibly intervene in attempt to secure the industrial facilities and manpower of the North to ensure that they have the manufacturing capabilities to defend against Kaiju. Cherno is still my favourite Jaeger it just looks so much more brutal and powerful than the others. |

Peru is said to have built a Jaeger; I think that's a good lower bound. If it's based on how much money they can bring to bear, the notable omissions are: -Colombia -New Zealand -Philippines -Vietnam Slightly dubious are Indonesia and Malaysia. I mean they are on the edge of the pacific, and have large economies, but don't seem to have been targeted at all. Canada, Chile, Mexico, and SK only built one each. I think a Colombian Jaeger would be pretty cool. EDIT: Oh hey, Panama too! That means that Ecuador, Guatemala and Costa Rica really should have been able to get in on it also. Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

I'm just going to guess that a ton of skyscraper-sized monsters roaming around kind of trashed the global economy and made it easier to accquire the funds to build jaegers. That, or mostly every Shatterdome had an under-the-table deal with the kaiju black market. |

I like to think that when the kaiju have a gun aimed at the workers, suppliers, and their families that most of this stuff was created out of the need to survive. But I somehow doubt that people that good at looking ahead. |
