| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. This isn't exactly a project. It's more of a piece of fanfiction for "Twilight" and "Skuntabria". It's not as bad as it sounds, so just bear with me. A Vampire's Guide to Hidden Wildlife by Jonny Cullen If you're expecting something written by a bigfoot-nut or bat-shit crazy cryptozoologist, you're not gonna get it. This is about a world that most people don't know exists, a world populated by dragons, unicorns, and other supposedly fantastic creatures. The reason most people don't know about it? It is being covered up, by a society who call themselves the Opus Sientia. The Freemasons and Illuminati may be long gone (although some asshats say they still exist), but the Opus Sientia still exists, as it has for centuries, hiding some of the greatest discoveries in the history of science. For some reason, they think that the world would go to shit if the existance of those aforementioned creatures were to be revealed. Well, I'm here to put an end to that. I found out about the Opus Sientia about three years ago. I was at a pub in England, when I met a man named David Cross (not the actor). He said he was in trouble for spilling secrets. Then, he figured that since he was going to die anyway, he'd tell me everything. He told me about the dark organization he worked for, their agenda, and about the Neoraptors (werewolves gene-spliced with different species of raptors). Then, what appeared to be a pack of Deinonychus burst through the door. One of them threw David to the floor, then ripped him to shreds with its talons. They morphed into humans, then proceeded to burn down the bar. I barely escaped with my life (or lackthereof). They went after me next, but being a vampire, I'm able to run as fast as a sailfish swims, so the Neoraptors were left in the dust. I learned something from that experience. I learned that those people don't take too kindly to blabbermouths, so keep this book safe. If the Opus Sientia find it, you'll most likely end up like Mr. Cross. I leave you this book in the hope that you can identify these creatures. I think it's best to hide the knowledge of their location to ensure that the Opus Sientia don't torch your city to the ground. In closing, good luck with your discoveries, but keep them to yourself. |

I don't completely understand. How does a vampire not already know about the Opus Sientia? Also, what made the Opus Sientia so much better at covering stuff up recently? There were tons of myths about unicorns and other stuff five hundred years ago, but just about a century ago they started doing their jobs? |

Well, this takes place in a separate headcanon. The levels of knowledge are slightly different. At level 1, we have the general public. At level 2, there's the CIA, FBI, etc. At level 3, there's vampires and werewolves. At level 4, there's Neoraptors, zombies, and, of course, the Opus Sientia. Also, at that time, the organization was more lenient, because the public wasn't a threat to any of the creatures. Everything changed because the Catholic Church ordained that dragons all be wiped out, so they had to cover everything up, but by this point, if the public can deal with the existence of vampires, then they sure as hell can tolerate dragons and other things. |

You may have noticed I deleted the posts about the vampires and zombies. Well, as much as I hate what C.M. Kosemen (or Nemo Ramjet, as he's known around here) calls "item mentality", I'm doing a restructuring of the posts. I'm dividing paragraphs up into sections, both to keep everything orderly, and to save work. Testicles. That is all. |

I don't have enough writing skill to continue this, so this particular topic is dead. The project, however, is not. Look, I can't write to save my life, so as of now, I'm passing the torch over to Zinnokkrah, assuming he's up for this. Here's how it's going down: first, I'll PM Zinnokkrah a list of ideas to cover. Then, he'll write the actual post. EDIT: I've decided to cancel this project and move on to a new one, which I will post both here and on deviantART. This topic is dead, so someone should close it.
