Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

In fact, russia is dying.
The putin government hasnt changed anything.
Russia dies, just like the usa. The countries of the future are arabia, japan, china and the other east asian states.
A german author once compared the states to their scyscrapers: in the 19th century the highest buildings were in europe, then in the usa and ussr. And now? Burj khalifa, taipei 101.
Are you genuine? Or are you trying to provoke a response?

Russia's economic growth is comparable to China's, unemployment is falling, HDI is rising, local corruption is decreasing, it maintains the second most powerful military in the world and it has enormous reserves of near enough everything. It is increasing ties with the EU and former Soviet states and is undergoing a similar process to the USA in the 1950s in terms of sourcing work in other countries. And yet it has managed to keep its growth out of the news, which is a PR success. Yes, there is major political corruption and there is rising depression in its youth, but that doesn't mean that the country isn't one of the top three to watch for the next century.

If you were alive in the 1980s, with the rise of Japanese and Korean electronics industries, you would have seen similar predictions to those about China today; they will become the world's top two economies etc. Yet the bubble burst and they remain world-class, but have not overtaken the USA. Given the increasing integration of economies rising amongst the most economically powerful nations is harder than ever. Of course this doesn't mean China will fail to overtake the USA's GDP, but it's a reminder not to take things too far.
To be honest, I wouldn't compare China's economic growth with Japan or Korea's. The actual nature of Chinese growth is closer to the growth of the Soviet Union's economy in the 30s/40s/50s, I mean in 1961 a Nobel-prize-winning economist* predicted that the Soviet Union's national income would overtake the US's by 1984, and we all know how that turned out.

In other words, the Soviet Union then, and China now, were essentially able to produce incredibly rapid growth (The USSR's national income rose by at least 6% per year between 1928 and 1960), but they were unable to sustain it, because of political/economic exclusiveness and a lack of innovation, and eventually it peters out.
The political repression, and economically extractive regime killed the USSR's growth, and it'll do the same to China's (unless something changes). I mean, neither China or the USSR have/had the kind of innovation that the US or E.U do, or even that of Japan, and as a result they quite simply failed to succeed.

I speak German and English, some Russian and Serbian, a bit of French and Latin and am learning Icelandic now. It's kinda hard to practice Icelandic, what with 300k people that speak it and all, but hey, the rarer the Pokémon language, all the better, right?

(ég talað lítið íslensku en ég er að læra hana lol)

Are you plausible?

English and Spanish.

So is this where somebody comes out and says, "Splendid! We have been without an interpreter droid since our master got angry with the last one and disintegrated it"?

Coming one day
Age of Mankind
Humanity fate and its possible finals.

The Long Cosmic Journey
The history outside our world.

The alternative paths
The multiverse, the final frontier...

Holocene park: Welcome to the biggest adventure of the last 215 million years, where the age of mammals comes to life again!
Cambrian mars: An interesting experiment on an unprecedented scale, the life of a particular and important period in the history of our planet, the cambric life, has been transported to a terraformed and habitable mars in an alternative past.
Two different paths, two different worlds, but same life and same weirdness.
