Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Why Can't I Hold All These Mongols?

Fakey, explain to me how calling PTSD 'shellshock' (despite the fact that the majority of sufferers are not war veterans, 'rapeshock' or 'abuseshock' would be more accurate).
And then there's the fact that they're different things, related yes, but different. Shellshock is something that occurs to someone on the actual battlefield, PTSD is a lifelong disorder that develops after the event, soldiers have flashbacks and nightmares when they're back home, not when they're actually in the warzone, and as I stated before, shellshock is only applicable to sufferers of Combat-PTSD.
And I fail to see how a different name would change anything, I have PTSD, and the name means shit to me, it wouldn't help me to change the name, it could be called 'Care-Bear Disorder' and I doubt it would help. An emotionless name is the only thing that can be given to the disorder, no word can do the actual emotion justice.

I'll agree that shellshock sounds better, but it's a blanket term covering all sorts of trauma, most of which are not battlefield or shelling exclusive.
