Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

OK, I am a big fan of a television show on History Channel called Life After People. It is about what would happen to our cities, animals, and vehicles if we were to suddenly vanish from the face of the Earth. Now, I am going to give it a shot, only this will be more based on biology after us, not about cities, vehicles, etc. Now then, where should I start this journey? It is your choice.

Shouldn't this be in general spec or future evolution?

Why Can't I Hold All These Mongols?

How about more versatile options (ps, what's with 'South Africa', where in South Africa? Its kind of vague to list an entire country as an option).
For example, Shanghai or Tokyo or any other of the megalopolis' in Asia.
A station on Antarctica would also be interesting
Perhaps take a look and see what of humanity could be fossilized (I haven't seen all of the series, and that probably already came up)

Dragonborn: No, I put it in General Discussion because I am not speculating what lifeforms could evolve; just what would happen to animals about 50-100 years in the future if we just disappeared.

seascorpion: I guess I will, but I need to know how to edit polls. And I decided to add Hiroshima. And when I say South Africa, I mean anywhere in South Africa. I plan on making the South China tigers from "Save China's Tigers" to escape, making a lot of changes in the ecosystem. And an Antarctic Station might also become a choice.

Antarctica would be dull. Nothing happens for thousands of years until it's buried by snow and crushed. The end.

Indeed. Wildlife escaping from zoos, although all ready explored by the show, could be more deeply delved into.
"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"

Although this is farther in the future, maybe cuban anoles, which are already invasive in Florida, could outcompete and wipe out the native florida anole?

I would be interested in seeing what would happen to New York, with all the rubble that would appear in a short time. Also, are you going to have the disappearance of humanity be more like how it was in Aftermath: Population Zero or like Life After People? Because if you choose the former, you'll also have to take into account every vehicular device that is speeding through the oceans, rails, roads, and air crashing and igniting widespread fires.

I am focusing on biology. And I am also thinking about doing California now, since there are so many habitats.
