| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! It would be more than foolish; it would be idiotic, mainly because we supply 40% of the US's energy, and ship a lot of our resources to you guys. You'd be horribly messed up if you declared War on us. Besides which, even if you did take over, there would be a MASSIVE problem with guerrilla warfare, given how friggin' huge Canada is. Also, there would be Britain to worry about, since their Queen is our head of state. |

Exactly it would be stupid. It may be cool to dominate the whole continent, but it would, like you said, be completely idiotic. Especially since, as far as I know, our countries are quite friendly with each other. I mean, we do have the longest unprotected border in the world separating us. |

So a war between Canada and the USA is almost totally out of the question. A war between Canada and RUSSIA, on the other hand, is a possibility, because they've been intruding on our airspace recently, and have been sending their ships into our waters for years |

Morons. I said the U.S. and Denmark are pushing Greenland and Canada to go to war over the oil, because whichever of the twi wins will send oil to the U.S. in the case of Canada, or Denmark in the case of Greenland. Nowhere in my post does it say anything about Canada and the U.S. going to war. LEARN TO READ. |

Damn it, I was looking forward to informing you Greenland is still part of Denmark and it's defence is the responsibility of the Forsvaret.
Russia always intrudes on people's airspace. They send a few Tu-95 towards your country or something strategic, you send fighters to escort them home. The poor dears have never been able to maintain a navy like a civilized nation and must rely on their air force to remind people that they are still relevant. A war between the USA and Canada is highly unlikely, given the quality of the Canadian Armed Forces, Canada's large size and the general warm relations between the two countries. For the USA try to conquer Canada a fourth time, the world is going to have changed rather drastically. And if you want a war in the ice and snow, the Yugoslav wars should be cold enough. |

Yes, there have been several wars between India and China, the most recent clashes in 1987. China is very closely allied with India's archenemy, Pakistan. If there is another great war in the next 50 years I think it will be in Asia. Vietnam will probably seek out closer ties with India, both nations were friendly with the USSR and are still quite cordial with Russia, indeed they are developing several aircraft together. India is going to have a slight edge navally, they have been operating carriers since the 50's. The new Vikrant class the Indians are building could threaten the entire Chinese coast, all the way to the Yellow Sea. On the ground they are fairly evenly matched, but I expect China has the edge. I still don't think it's very likely, both sides know the heavy butcher's bill for victory. |

We know. What you said led us to think about what would happen in that scenario. |

Pretty much everyone is. Isolation and hostility turns you into Burma or North Korea. The potential for destruction is huge. India, Pakistan and China all have nuclear weapons and large, well trained and equipped militaries. Total war could lead to hundreds of millions of casualties, the death of nations. |

A good thing for countries with huge amounts of people. War is a form of population control. Hell, I bet with all the measures China is taking to stop population growth, they'd welcome a war with India. |

No it's not, wars kill a lot of people, but rarely a huge proportion of the population. The countries rapidly recover. And an excellent way to lose it to plan for your people to die. Speaking of people getting killed in large numbers, who's up for Expendables 2? Edited by lamna, Jan 1 2012, 08:29 AM.
