| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I had another dream two nights ago about a strange snake-like animal. I was in a jungle of some kind, and out on a branch I saw a long, snake-like animal. The odd thing about it was that it had stubby little legs, placed far apart from each other. As it tried to slither on to another branch, in order to keep grip it it would use it's front legs, and when it became too difficult to balance, it would use it's legs to pull itself up. |

Last night I had a dream about a high-gravity world with 1.5 G. In the dream, I could see some kind of oasis in an expansive desert. In the distance there were two vast, sparkling lakes. As you would expect from a high-G world, the air was thick and dense. The life here looked like giant arthropods, but in my mind I knew they had to be at least partly endoskeletal to support their bodies. I saw no plants, and I don't remember the land life well, but I remember seeing a group of black insectoid flyers, with four fly-like wings. They were relatively small for flyers (about pigeon sized), yet they flew quite gracefully due to the thick air. Out on the horizon I saw a massive city/colony built of metals to withstand the higher gravity. I didn't see any colonists though. |

See? That's what I meant! How do you get the "1.5 G" thing into a dream? Whether they're meaningful or the dreams of a person who's on SE, a dream is a dream is a dream. It's almost a rule that they don't make sense! I had a dream where a girl was slowly sinking into the tile kitchen floor. I think she was a celebrity or something.... |

I had a dream involving E. Coli and other bacteria on our body contaminating Mars. I had a dream where a few men snuck aboard the rocket transporting curiosity to Mars, and survived on only trail mix, and when they arrived, they contaminated Mars with bacteria on their body and in their body, such as E. Coli, and millions of years later, the planet is dominated by single celled descedants of these bacteria, and mars is colored green by algae. I also dreamt where there were guys flying to Japan using grapes and hollowed out carrots, they were flying because of a meeting about global warming, since in this dream, global warming got real bad, though most people went by plane. |

I dreamt about beetles that had two sets of legs - one inner and one outer, which makes 12 legs total. They were also like 10 times bigger than normal and were highly saturated in various hues. |

Now I dreamt about another creature - it was an amphibian vertrebrate, which however felt more comfortable in water. It could be a fish, but it had no fins - instead, it had skiny/fleshy peryphery, which it moved in sinusoidal fashion to move, just like some fellyfish do*. It was in a dull/dark/black colour and like half a meter long. When in water it was demersal, when on land, it achieved quite big speed. Its jaws could open for like, more than 90 degrees. It had no bones save for the spine and may be the jaws. The eyes were tiny and on top of its head. *a pro-verb : ) |

Interesting. Last night I had a dream about a rabbit-like creature, small enough to hold in the hand, that was tolerant of being handled and highly averse to loud noises (i.e. thunder, etc). |

I had a dream where I found three bullet shaped eggs, laid by an unknown reptile. My little sister in the dream got pissed at me, and cracked one of the eggs, yet it survived. However, another one of the eggs got damaged, and inside was not a reptile, but, a parasitic black and yellow praying mantis, that was twice the size of the egg. The other egg had cracked open as well, and inside was an undeveloped snake of some kind.

I had a dream where I was in a Minecraft world, and there were dinosaur-things everywhere. I don't remember the details, but I ended up chasing this Kaprosuchus/monitor lizard all over the place because there was something wrong with its legs. |

I had a dream where i was hunting these weird, plump ratlike creatures by a stream. The rat creatures then chased away a spinosaurid of some kind for some reason. |

Projects and concepts that I have stewing around Extended Pleistocene- An alternate future where man died out, and the megafauna would continue to thrive (may or may not include a bit about certain future sapients) Inverted World- An alternate timeline where an asteroid hit during the Barremian, causing an extinction event before the Maastrichtian. Dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and notosuchians make it to the present, along with a host of other animals. Badania- Alien planet that has life at a devonian stage of development, except it exists in the present day. Ido- Alien world where hoppers (derived flightless ballonts) and mouthpart-legged beasts are prevalent. Leto- Life on a moon orbiting a gas giant with an erratic orbit; experiences extremes of hot and cold. The Park- ??? Deeper Impact- a world where the K-Pg extinction wipes out crocodilians, mammals, and birds; squamates, choristoderes, and turtles inherit the earth. World of Equal Opportunity- alternate history where denisovans come across Beringia and interact with native fauna. Much of the Pleistocene fauna survives, and the modern humans that end up crossing into North America do not overhunt the existing animals. 10,000 years later, civilizations exist that are on par with European and Asian societies. The Ditch- Nothing is what if seems.. | |

Do daydreams count? If so, I had a dream about a hominoid with these... almost fanlike, really, wings, and strong jumping legs. With big huge eyes. |

I had a dream where someone found alien at a beach. It had seven limbs, 3 on each side, and a 7th where a tail would be in an earthly animal. It was highly hostile, and it was roaring at everyone at the beach. Then someone killed it, and someone buried it on the moon using a rover. Also, in the same dream, an alien invasion was imminent. Also, the alien wasn't humanoid.

Once I dreamed of this weird kind of crab, colored purple with a white symbol on the shell and teal "jaws" with teeth that looked like metal clamps. But then time froze and I realized that a crab with advanced toothed jaws is unrealistic, and my dream modified it so the jaws had instead become its claws and it had a normal crustacean mouth. It had extremely powerful jumping abilities. I also dreamed of a highly intelligent aquatic mammal once. It looked a bit like a Suicune (a kind of Pokemon) but with these long, backward-swept horns on its head and a long tail. Its eyes looked quite intelligent; they were the kind of eyes that look at you and just know things. It was a powerful swimmer even though it was built like a terrestrial mammal, and it was about as smart as a human. It had a name, but I can't remember it. Finally once I dreamed about the Loch Ness monster. It wasn't a plesiosaur or a mutant seal as they usually are, but a gigantic, carnivorous relative of the blenny. Its jaws were rather like those of a wolf-fish and it had large spiked pectoral fins. This thing could rear its head out of the water like the Loch Ness monster is classically depicted doing, but it was much larger than typical depictions; rather than a slender, plesiosaur-like animal, this thing was huge, bulky, and muscular; about 8 feet thick and around 100 feet long. It was jet-black except for the fins, which were sometimes dark red, and its eyes, which glowed with a black light. It was actually the feature of a horror film that my dream showed me the trailer of. |
