| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! One dream creature i had was a kind of flat critter that at first glance resembled a tapestry. It then would sweep to the floor and move camoflaged against the rug in a castle. Then it would wrap around you and lay eggs on you that turned you into a zombie. Fire made it terrified and it was soem sort of pet/slave to giant vampiric ravens with twin claws on each toe. Yup. And it ate my fifth grade teacher, but thats a different story. There was also a weird fish shaped like a cabbage that was soemhow shaped like a fish. It had really sharp teeth but noone really knew where its mouth was. It swam by using a tail which i knew was there but was always on the other side of the cabbage/fish. It had a key inside of it which it lived in somehow by distorting reality. |

I do art sometimes. "if you want green eat a salad" Projects: Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs. Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes. ❤️❤️~I'm not a boy~❤️❤️

I had a dream about a year ago (I think I'd been watching too much Primeval) which involved modern gorgonopsids. There was a white-and-blue one that ate someone (it could dislocate its jaw like a snake) and a larger, bipedal one that could change color and skewered meat on tree branches to lure in prey (this thing TERRIFIED me). There were also a couple of furry hypsilophodont-type things and some pterosaurs as well. What's really weird is that the gorgonopsids were furry, and I had never heard of furry ones before that. I tried to get a project going with this, but it got shot down...

I think I might have a dream focusing on messed up creatures, thanks to all of you disturbed lunatics . Joking here. They all seem to have a common theme, in that they're either completely alien, inhabit some sort of grasslands, or are predatory. Maybe these dreams hint at some sort of racial memory of our lives in the grasslands, long before civilization. Edited by Dragon, Dec 13 2011, 04:19 PM.

I don't know. maybe those humans living along coasts had to fend off shark attacks, or regularly saw manta rays. This is pretty weird, though... |

Yes. I now think 20% less of you for being all spiritual about dreams. You want something spiritual? Go meditate and meet your totem. Just be suspicious of your favourite animals. They aren't likely to be your totem. |

By relevance I think he meant relevant to your conscious concerns, in which case I agree. There's nothing spiritual or magical about it. Not saying it's not junk information either, but it's junk information your brain interprets to be relevant, hence it's relevant, seeing as dreams are thoughts, hence, what you think the thought is is what it is, because it becomes that through the course of you thinking about it that way. |

Dreams are still weird, no matter how you look at them. I've had plenty of strange dreams, but none about some f-ed up creature... yet. |

"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"
