Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I found a very cool image of an unknown Snaiadi beast:

IT WAS ME, GUZMA!

Unknown? That's a masker.
"The Encyclopedia is--and always has been--a fraud. In the fifty years that you have worked on this fraudulent project your retreat has been cut off, and you now have no choice but to proceed on the infinitely more important project that was, and is, our real plan. Terminus and it's companion Foundation at the other end of the galaxy are to be the seeds and founders of the Second Galactic Empire." - Harry Seldon, Isaac Asmiov's Foundation

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate... All those moments will be lost in time... Like... Tears in rain... Time to die." - Roy Batty, Bladerunner

You did WHAT in my abscence?!

Yep. The creature that is likely to evolve into a possible future Snaiadi sapient.

Anyway Russwallac, thanks for the link. I missed Nemo's images.

I had a cool conversation with Memo Kosemen (Nemo Ramjet) yesterday, and he's gearing up to do some very cool things. His (and John Conway's and Darren Naish's) Irregular Books (http://irregularbooks.co/) has been doing well with its first publication (All Yesterdays), so he's pouring more effort into it. Next on the agenda (apparently) is a new version of his All Tomorrows book about the future of human evolution. After that, I'm sure that even if he isn't already planning to publish Snaiad, he could be persuaded. :)

I was on Nemo's new site, clicked on the Links section, and found some very, um, peculiar web pages. Link below, possibly NSFW.

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

Okay... :|

Just a warning, most of that is probably inappropriate to post here, and by proxy, Nemo's website may be too.

Most of it's just horror- or spec-related, but there are a few artists that have more... risque work. I guess that's art for you. :P

Nemo's stuff usually isn't too bad (there's a little nudity sometimes, but that's to be expected), but the sites on his links page can be a bit NSFW.

BREAKING NEWS! There is now a sequel to Nemo's first published book, All Yesterdays. It is called All Your Yesterdays, and it consists of the winning pictures from a competition he held on DeviantArt (I myself entered, but did not win). He says his next books will be a book on the speculative biology of cryptids called The Cryptozoologicon and a book adaptation of Snaiad. If all this is true, this would make Nemo Ramjet (or should I say C. M. Koseman, since he uses his real name on his books) the first speculative biologist after Dougal Dixon to write more than one book!
