Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I just heard Star Trek online is going free to play and it made me think that maybe we should have MMO topic.

All I've really played is Runescape. I really dislike having to keep paying for something.

STO is going free to play? Hell yea!
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

I'm pretty sure you paid to play it, so you should not be happy.

You're supposed to be mad when a game your paid for goes free to play and call anyone who joins in after it goes free a moron and say they have ruined the game. That's how gaming works.

I bet you don't even know which "3" FPS that's coming out soon you're supposed to disparage.
But as you seem to have a sense of perspective, should I call my ship? I'm liking "USS Harrington"*.

*I'm gonna play Federation. I'm playing a Star trek MMO, I'm not a nerd.

E.V.E looks exciting.
"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"

In the past I've played MMORPGs, not really any more though. Can't think of any good recent ones.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

RuneScape's a great MMO. There's a TON of content, and you can play for free. Not to mention it's got a great, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, and it's updated constantly. ^_^

Nah. Every now and then I bought a three month card to play, but now I don't have to pay at all! And don't play Federation, it sucks. Klingons are a lot more fun. They have better missions, better ships, better names, and best of all THE GORN! Klingons do a lot more PvP too, in fact most of their missions involve PvP.

Did they ever decide on what the new playable faction was going to be? I was hoping Borg, but I'd be happy with Romulans.

I'll admit the fact their empire is multi-species does pique my interest. But at the end of the day, Klingon ships have terrible lighting.

I'm hoping for the Cardassians myself. The Borg seem kind of an odd choice, they are supposed to be one monolithic being. Getting orders would be weird.

Romulans are without honour. Also fashion sense.

I would be content with Cardassians. At least then I could work on getting Bajor back into its rightful place in the Empire.
