Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

We all have cool ideas for things we'd love to do or make, art, novels, films and so on. But unless you actually have something to show us such as concept art or a first draft I think you should discuss it here so we don't have dozens of topics of people talking about their cool ideas.

Why would they attack her? Monarchs don't do anything any more.

Russia's a 'democracy' now, the constitution is democratic- http://www.constitution.ru/en/10003000-02.htm - and the USA wants it that way.

Some Russians do.

But that story makes no sense. How can the monarchy be restored when the government opposes it?
I dunno Lamna, maybe it's...

The idea was that the government's arm was twisted into restoring the monarchy against their wishes (though they put on a good, public, supportive face) and are secretly working against the restoration which rests on the Romanovs' descendants return.

The U.K. is a democracy and also a monarchy-a constitutional one.

A monarchy in name, yes. But we are ruled by our government. The queen has emergency and administrative powers, that's it.

Yeah. I know. Just saying that democracies and monarchies can coexist and a restoration wouldn't be anything bad in terms of the people's voice.

Anyway, an action thriller about preventing a restoration of the Russian monarchy is a lame idea the more I think about it. I definitely want to use the title "The Last Romanov" and write a story that assumes the Romanovs or some of them survived and had descendants living in America but this isn't the one.

Guess what? Rather than someone of royal blood, have it be a worker in Ukraine who tries to get him and his family to the U.K. so his family can finally prosper.

Why the U.K.? One, the U.S. at this time was in the Red Panic, so everyone would instantly discriminate against them. Two, the U.S. is overused in this kind of thing. Maybe have the U.S. mention as a one liner, and have it never brought up again.

Bah, next you'll say Australia was in a Red Panic.

We all know that's bullshit because reall Australians do not fear anything. If you do, then I personally mail you a certificate notifying you that YOU DO NOT EXIST.

That and Australia isn't a Western nation. It's so far east that the only major nations that are further east are Japan and New Zealand.

No, at the time Australians were terrified of Asians. Coming into their country, being Asian.

And the Romanov dynasty did survive. It's hard to kill a entire royal house.

during WWII Australians were justly afraid of the Japs invading us, they were swarming all over New Guinea, just a hundred miles or so north of the mainland - and just like England was shit-scared of Boney and Hitler just across the English channel - okay - so Torres Strait is a bit wider than the Channel - but Nips with bayonets are way more scary than Frogs with artillery and Krauts with sub-machine guns, for a start they all wear glasses, all have squinty eyes and savage bucked teeth!... one of my Dad's cousins got killed by the Japs on the Kokoda trail where about 200 Aussies (with a LOT of help from their "Fuzzy Wuzzy" mates!) held off about 2000 Japs (I'm exaggerating of course! but us Aussies are world champion bullshit artists!)....

I have maintain a "real Australian" policy ever since I heard of them.

You fall into one of two categories. Australian, and Real Australian.

Indeed, if you ever look at several of my posts mentioning Australia, I often mention that real Australians enjoy pissing, fist fights, and kickboxing with cassowaries.

Normal Australians are slightly less suicidally insane*.
