Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Recently I have been watching the original planet of the apes series, and it had me thinking. What sorta life could evolve on this Earth where cats and dogs are extinct and apes dominate. The world also appears to be much warmer with jungles springing up in New York.

So im thinking this could be a group project, hopefully the first of many :) if you are interested please post here. It helps if you have facebook as it is easier to coordinate things.

if you're taking out cats and dogs, what about bears and hyena too?

I can see apes going down the bear path, then gradating to predator.

Primates on Madagascar evolved to fill many different niches....

Well we don't see any bears in the movies so perhaps yes :) maybe all carnivorous mammals went extinct?

So right now its just me and Magoo. Anyone else up for this?
