Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Funny that Communism managed to more or less wipe out religion in Czechoslovakia, but turned Poland into one of the last places in Europe where Catholicism is serious business.

its funny that you find funny something you know nothing about .. john sno.. lamma

Catholicism used to be viewed as "habsburg import" as before battle of white mountain and forced recatolisation f inahibants of Czech lands, like 90% of people used to be protestants (well we had hussites who disliked catholics too) so thats why czech nationalists were rather anti-catholics, adn thats why after gaining freedom from Austria-Hungary, catholic church lost in less than 3 years more than 1 500 000 followers. We never used to be "churchgoers", thast why organised religion isn't dominant and popular here, instead there are various alternative "trends".. well >50% of people are just agnostics/atheists. Just look at Slovak lands. People here are very catholic too, and they were, with a small pause during WWII were united with us from beggining till end of Czechoslovakia

I said religion in general, I know the Czechs were largely protestant for much of their history.

yep, again, you said Czechoslovakia and I argumented whats the problem of this statement. (or do you wanna erase a whole region from history of one nation.. or erase religiono-cultural identity of many Moravians and Slovaks? D: )
so.. compare religionisity of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia, you'll see the difference..

I was thinking of spending Uni in America, and then return to the UK.

Try this area.

There's a lot of great schools here. I think to really get a taste of America though you need to experience both coasts. Don't limit yourself to the East Coast if you're gonna come here.

America isn't just two big coasts. In fact, fuck the coasts. Most of America is in bewtween the mountains. You know, the cool part of America.

I don't see why I'd emigrate, I like all this dark green and rain... everywhere else is so... alien...

Sounds like Washington and Oregon.

The only places in the US I have been to is Arizona and Wisconsin (although we stayed in Chicago for a few days). Both of them were stunning places, got quite annoying how obsessed the people in Arizona got about my accent though. But the landscape is almost as beautiful as Tennyson's Britain ;)

Let me tell you, American women love British accents. I say British as a generalization, I'm fully aware that Brits don't all sound the same. I just don't know the different accents, and honestly I can't tell much of a difference. The only time I ever really noticed was on an episode of The Mighty Boosh. Pretty much anywhere you go in the country you will have women swooning over you because of your accent. Why you would be annoyed by that, I have no idea. I can imagine it would get old after a while though. I wouldn't know, nobody thinks an American accent is sexy. Granted though I'm from the Midwest, so my accent is "talk slowly, plainly, and clearly."
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

You're from the plains, not the Midwest. I'm from the Midwest. Here, we talk with a hella lotta slang and abbreviations. Mostly because most people here are Germanic in descent, so everyone just takes those little language quirks with them.

Like we don't say Mum. EVER. We say mommy, momma, and mom, but never Mum. Because mum is a kind of plant silly.

The Mighty Boosh is savage :) , but yes I would have a similar accent to Vince. Actually I think you will find that many girls like the American accent over here, unless its deep Texan or hillbilly. With British accents the futher north you go, the less it sounds like English ;) I don't know what the rule is for the US?
