Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I thinking about eventually moving to south-west England one day, especially if the US becomes worse than it is now.

The status of the united states within the next decade or so will influence my departure.

Either I'll go to china or Canada depending on their states, either way it will be a hard transition from sunny Arizona.

I'm curious. Why do you want to leave the US? I mean, I have heard mainly bad from there, but what I hear is obviously incredibly one-sided, so I'd like to hear how it is over there from people who are actually living there.

Well for the most Part it's pretty nice, things are really starting to pick up again. But the educational system is starting to go downhill the political parties are fighting so much right now that legislation is becoming stagnant ( personally I think this issue will be why Obama won't get reelected dispute what he's done, even though it wasn't his fault). I think another 8 years of a republican run government with drag the country further down.

But hey that's just my opinion.

So you're going to go to the People's Republic of China, where freedom expires in the few places it's kind of allowed in 2047 and 2049? Besides China still has political infighting and nonsense, even if it's all within one party, at least in name.

Unless you're talking about the Republic of China.

But Sinitic languages are damned hard to learn, in any case. Canada would probably be the best option. Though it's still full of political nonsense, everywhere with a government is. And everywhere without it is pretty unpleasant. That's just how the world works.

I was talking about the republic of china Horay for Taiwan, as mainland china is... Well bad. Well it's not that bad for foreigners that is, they tend to treat you pretty nice or if you visit the autompus regions. I've heard nice things about 越南 and 四川 as long as I steer clear of tourist traps and Fujian I should be fine.

And learning the language isn't much of an issue I already speaks some, but the simplified/traditional difference might be problematic

And I still do think America is great but I wary of it's future, it's always nice to have a back up plan.

In London, if you want a balance between leisure and cost, maybe Camden.

South-west England eh Pando? Hm. You probably don't want to go to Bristol or Weston-super-Mare.
Cornwall maybe. You don't want to be on the moors either.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Ah, most people just say Taiwan when they are talking about the ROC. I hear there are going to be some changes with Chinese soon, that there may be a joint cross straits dictionary.

Oooh you don't want to be going the funny side of the Tamar, they are trying to reanimate languages and put the cream on top of the jam, sometimes they don't even use scones! Stick with Devon, all the nice stuff about Cornwall, none of the savages.

He's right, by jingo!
I like plain scones, BTW

Devon! Though you'd probably want to live near a city... maybe Exeter?

I prefer them with just butter, but it's the principle of the thing.

Going to Devon for a city is a bit like going to Moscow to go to McDonalds.

Exeter is too South-West for me. I'm thinking more like the areas between Bristol, Hampshire, and Warwickshire.
