Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Ok so whenever I search for a specific thing like oh say "amphibians" to brainstorm on this site, these weird pages start coming up that look like stories that ppl are adding to or something.

It kinda reminds me of the odd roleplay some very strange kids (when I say kids I mean 18-25) were playing at Job Corps.

Is that what's going on here?

Really what it comes down to is most people don't just post individual creatures, but rather projects that feature a point of deviation/alternate planet and then creatures that evolved from there, so they create evolutionary "narratives" (in the loosest sense of the word) to place their creatures in and develop them as part of an overall ecosystem as opposed to a creature in a vacuum. Which is fine, but does make looking for inspiration difficult at times - I suggest the best way to handle that is to just browse some individual threads and see what strikes you as opposed to using the search feature.
Check out my settings, either Urban Jungles or Terra Cephalapodia!

Also, I apologize in advance to sometimes responding to quoted posts separately, my iPad makes it nearly impossible to multi-quote multiple posts.
