Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

1. muscles desined only to produse heat, and lots of it.

2. ok, i'm lost, can you please explane?

3. all this is, is spitting water. that's it. it dose not need talons or chemicals, it just needs water. all we need to do is find out how to get the creature up that high, and were golden. we should start a topic on that, what do you think?

Okay, one last try. I frankly no longer believe that an organism could literally generate ice, but perhaps it could do the next best thing. Might it be possible to organically create liquid nitrogen?

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

1 It's called brown fat. If the water is warm it won't freeze right out the mouth.
2 It takes a very long time to fly up so diving isn't a good comparison.
3 If it has wings it has something else or bites.

Follow me down the rabbit hole: dihydrogen monoxide freezes at 273, dinitrogen boils at 77. Which is colder?

i looked it up, and the Rüppell's Vulture has been recorder to reach altitudes of 36,100 feet above sea level, well within the altitude that jets fly and my idea would work. also, i could have it be an endangered species, that would work well with my progect.

You know the funny part; that's below the really cold part, the lower stratosphere.
That still isn't cold enough to snap freeze water.

Snap frost, heat doesn't transfer instantly. To pull off a rapid freeze it needs to be 203 but the breathable atmosphere almost never goes that low.

The fuselage also should be noted as not being able to thrash or repel water.
Under that logic spit on dew frost should freeze.

if the water is sprayed out like in the expirement, then it should freeze the same way.

When they sprayed the water it didn't freeze; it froze when they ran a drip and it took (I believe) 45 minutes to form

(looks back) it took 20 min for the chunk to grow to 10 in, but the freezing effect was immediate. if the creature is pashent enofe (i know, bad spelling) to follow the prey and keep the crystals forming intill it can't move or is to heavy to fly, then i think that this could work.

I'm still going with an endothermic reactive spray being the only way to do this, and the only way the could come about is with a stupid amount of GE.
