| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I was reading posts on the forum and a lightbulb metaphorically went off in my head. Saying Flish are Impossible&Implausible is bull you know what. You know why? Their already are flish... Their called birds and bats. See my drift? |

Not really. The birds and bats we have did not arise from the kind of fish we had now. They came from lobed finned fish, which went to land first before become fliers. And flish have certain characteristics which birds and bats don't have. Flying fish stand a better chance. I dunno. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed."

What did the lobies evolve from? |

I do art sometimes. "if you want green eat a salad" Projects: Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs. Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes. ❤️❤️~I'm not a boy~❤️❤️

Things which weren't quite like our fish. Fish have evolved too. |

it wouldn't be a flish, but flish are flying animals evolved from fish, so are birds and bats |

That's a 2D view. Different fish, different methods of evolution, different situations. |

Indeed, it'd be like saying you can have a flying moose because we have bats, doesn't quite work, hell, it's closer than comparing birds and rayfinned fish. |
