Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Apart from my rodent project, I have another piece of fiction that need some hardcore science from speculative evolution. This is the best site to talk about it after all.

I have this fantasy tale where mythical creatures exist in parallel to the real world and with Chinese Deities and stuff.

During my research in Chinese, Hindu, Malayan myths, I have wonder if some of those creatures could be alternative evoltuions of some creatures we had in the real world or even separate offshoots of the human species eg. Goblins, Rakashas.etc

Projects:
Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs.

Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes.

Good to see more projects like this. I hope to see some Australian Myths.
The drop-bear? The bunyip? The nargun?

or other Australian myths, like the honest politician? the pub with no beer?

Ok guys, Singapore is very very small. So it cannot house so many species of mythical creatures. Also due to the ethical composition of the population, it would be comprised mainly of mythic creatures from Asia. Australian myths will have to be in another topic.

Sorry to disappoint.

Do you guys have a good explanation why would some human-like beasts be clothed especially those that are really human like.

While with the fact that some of my creatures would be evolved hominids. I would have trouble if I feature females of that species due to the breasts which conflict with the Asian conservative sexual point of view.

For Rakahsha for example, I have a female character who is a member of the species. But she's overall looks like the Rakahsha with baboon like canines and horns but she has the anatomy of woman with breasts and all. Is there a way to explain why is she clothed? She is still animal all said and done.

There is both a Rainbow Serpent and a Gecko. They were derived from the same myth, apparently, but the Rainbow Serpent is more well-known.

I remeber there was also a strange dragon-ish monster from Aussie as well, as well as an enormous frog...

Perhaps humans could be one of the main most powerful races thus other races imitate them, i had a similar problem because i wanted my sapients to use guns and warships so i did a similar thing :) hope that helps

My project has alot of mythical beasts as well as creatures of my own creation ;)

maybe find out why the females of those egg laying (that is right isn't it?) blue sapients in Avatar cover up their titties, when they shouldn't even have titties because they're not mammals and don't suckle their young...

Or perhaps my mind is too dirty? [A joke]

Perhaps the only explanation is that humans having evolved hairlessness and some other hominid like races have yet to revert back to furriness. So the more human looking beasts would need clothing to protect themselves from the envrionment. I believe the humanoid creatures descended from the Homo erectus or argaster lineage and they are already hairless I believe.

Asia has a range of climates so they need clothing to protect their vital organs. But I have to say that my humanoid creatures unlike modern women do not have very large breasts, somewhat size A at maximum. Any bigger They would become a hindrance when the Rakahsha goes hunting deer with their bare hands/ claws.

The females may not win and best bust awards in human's point of view but they are fine being predatory humans. But the Male Rakahshas would like leggy women though. So I think the Rakahshas are toe walkers.
