| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Apart from my rodent project, I have another piece of fiction that need some hardcore science from speculative evolution. This is the best site to talk about it after all. I have this fantasy tale where mythical creatures exist in parallel to the real world and with Chinese Deities and stuff. During my research in Chinese, Hindu, Malayan myths, I have wonder if some of those creatures could be alternative evoltuions of some creatures we had in the real world or even separate offshoots of the human species eg. Goblins, Rakashas.etc |

Guys I think I have some trouble. While with the fact that some of my creatures would be evolved hominids. I would have trouble if I feature females of that species due to the breasts and the Asian conservative sexual point of view. For Rakashas for example, I have a female character who is a member of the species. But she's overall looks like the RAkasha with baboon like canines and horns but she has the anatomy of woman with breasts and all. Is there a way to explain why is she clothed? |

Appears as a gecko or a tuatara in inland waters, and a whale or a shark in a sea. Their characteristic is that they have spines along their backs. Japanese Mythology Mizuchi- a snake-like water dragon. Ryujin- a gigantic aggressive sea dragon that symbolizes the power of the ocean. Wani, Watatsumi- a shark-crocodile sea dragon thingy. Amemasu- a giant whale or fish like creature akin to the Leviathan Nozuchi- a snake-leech creature. Namazu- an earthquake-making catfish Akkorokamui- a creature akin to the kraken; a gigantic red squid. Basan- a gigantic fire breathing chicken. Baku- an animal with the nose of an elephant, the feet of a tiger and the body of a bull. It is as large as a small elephant. The description you gave of the Pouakai is actually more similar to that of the Hakawai, another monster bird. While the Pouakai is a generic giant bird of prey, the Hakawai is a creature sent by Heaven to torment the mortals during the night. Inspired possibly by the native shorebirds rather than the Haast's Eagle, which was the inspiration for the Pouakai |

Possible I did get the two mixed up, the list was made some time ago. So, the Hakawai is a demonic shorebird creature, and the Pouakai is a Haast Eagle raptorial bird thing. |

The environment would be the climate of Earth before human began using their climate changing technology. Something like the climate in the 28th Century B.C. In Singapore, it's still the tropical paradise. Rainy and Dry seasons and the occasional monsoon. The mythic creatures that appears in my tale are a reflection of our singapore's multi-racial society so dun be surprised if Chinese mythical creatures share the ecology with Malayan and Indian species. What you see here are the Singaporean subspecies which are slightly smaller than their mainland relatives. |
