| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. WAIT, what state are you in? F*ck i knew the cane toads were slowly moving south (and rapidly going west) from Queensland, is it possible the cyclone and floods are making them more persuaded to move west and south? |

Hey, you guys are lucky. We have Africanized bees all over the place here, and at the rate the climate in this hemisphere is changing pythons and boa constrictors might soon be able to establish thriving populations as far north as Virginia within half a century. Oh, and mountain lions are moving back into Kansas. Fuck. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

whats wrong with moutain lions? xD By the way, racoon dogs are practically everywhere in Czech republic, altrought they re almost invisible(and noctural) I saw a dead racoon last month..weird,at least there are still no big populations of them. And most of our red deers have sika blood, there are also big thriving populations of sika deers.Introduced White tailed deers thankfully due to competetion with roe deers live only in small area. If i dont count a Red eared sliders(which have no breeding population here) we have no introduced reptile or amphibian species |

Well, we don't really have horrible plagues around here, but someone had the brilliant idea of placing hedgehogs on the Azores. |

Nothing, if you live in the mountains. In Kansas there are only two things for them to eat though; cattle and the primates that own them. And cattle are the harder prey to catch. |

It's the bugs around here that suck. Little brown scorpions (not poisonous, but like anything else that stings it hurts), burrowing spiders that bit your toes, biting horse flies, wasps and bees, very aggressive red ants (which bite AND sting), and all manner of mantids (they bite too, and look like they know kung fu). Oh, and there's rattle snakes. But they're not as dangerous as you might think. What with the whole rattling to tell you to be wary and all. They make good food though, so their dislike of humans is understandable. |
