Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Hm~ I have three, maybe four, sapients in mind at the moment... though their physical appearance is not very concrete...

One of them in my mind is essentially a 1m tall parasitic wasp wearing classy 1800s Englishman clothes. Their women live inside galls and though they are also sapient and loved by their partners lack most "human rights" beyond the right to life and sense of safety. Traditionally gall clusters are left where they form, though there are several different things that the men have done to give them the option of bringing their spouse along with them when they travel, gall transfers, artificial ones (often some kind of tube with nutrient flow through it), or gently wrapping them up...
Oh Fine.

Oh hi you! Why don't you go check out the finery that is SGP??

I'm still working on it. I have all the characters in the panes drawn and inked, now I've got to figure out how the background will look and draw/ink it. Working in photoshop shouldn't take too long, since I'm just adding color and shading.
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

Hey Admirable Parasky, what size is your Wacom? I have a 7 year old 6x8 USB - it's okay - and still works (so expect years of service from yours) - but I am hanging out till Cintiqs come down in price, using a tablet is better than the "drawing with a cake of soap" analogy when drawing with a mouse, but it's still no where near as intuitive as drawing "directly" onto paper (or a hi-res touch screen with a stylus).
Decided I can't wait till Wacom Cintiqs come down in price - so I am going to buy an IBM Thinkpad X41 tablet... Much cheaper than a Cintiq and it's portable - i know it doesn't have the resolution or levels of pressure sensetivity of the Wacom - but it should do me... might buy two - keep one for spares / backup....

Perhaps one comic you could land on a planet highly similar to Earth but inhabited by nazi elves... (yes the ones from my project) they got there from an experiment in their universe which accidentally transported them there. With their blood banks and cloning facilities still in order they had the numbers to harass nearby planets and purge the locals.

Come on Nazi elves perfect villains there, smart, savage and hell bent on destruction plus they arent another friggin killer robot species?

Well the current comic is about Priapans on an exploration ship who encounter a planet populated by humans in a place it shouldn't be. When they investigate they find the planet in a state of temporal flux, and learn that the inhabitants are actually transhumans from the 81st Century who had a rather strange accident involving a time machine, a planetary power distribution grid, and one unfortunate chicken. I've even thought of referencing it in a later comic or story taking place in the 81st Century.

"At least I didn't misplace an entire planet... In time."

Poor man will never live that down.
