Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Something old: Pterosaur grabbed by mosasaur
Something new: Ceratopsian eating from a random carcass
I do art sometimes.

"if you want green eat a salad"

Projects:
Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs.

Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes.

Actually, I dunno about scavenging ceratopsians, but I'm pretty sure Mark Witton's started a new trend in sauropod-eating azhdarhcids. There are several artworks depciting the scene on DA and even a picture book.....

New means something that's not a cliché

It's new, but it's a trend. It's starting a whole array of cliches.

I've seen PLENTY of pictures of Uintatheres. Also, since when is Lithornis a cliche? Anyway, here's my two cents:
Old: Nekkid Velociraptors!
New: Black-and-white Liopleurodon!
My Projects:
The Neozoic Redux
Valhalla--Take Three!
The Big One

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

Black-and-White Liopleurodon have been drawed since WWD over ten years ago, so that´s a rather old cliche.

Anchiornis in its true colors is a "new cliche".

No, I meant that it something that should be seen (new). It is barely a cliché, since there's pratically no illustrations of it lol.
