| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Let's get what's happened out of the way. My great uncle Virtrees (Pronounced: Ver-tree-us) died Monday, my lunch schedule has been changed at school so I can't eat with my friends, so now I tablehop, and the funeral was today. Now on with the main part. I learned at the funeral that my Grandpa, or as I called him when I was younger, "Cranpa", has about two months to live. I knew before but I tried to keep my spirit up by deluding myself into thinking he'll pulls a "Coy Godbey"* and recover to full health. I kept calling him a Highlander and what not, saying he was immortal. But now the reality has hit me like a tsunami, and for the first time, I left my self delusion behind and cried. What made me cry? My father asked me if I wanted to be pallbearer at Grandpa's funeral, because my mother and sister were too emotional to ask. So I assume that along with my cousin Coy, the Joy's Boys, and my cousin Kenny, will be Grandpa's pallbearer's. I need a hug and emotional support. *It's what our family calls it when he recovers from disease and defies the doctors predictions. Edited by Kamidio, Jan 8 2011, 10:42 PM.

I do art sometimes. "if you want green eat a salad" Projects: Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs. Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes. ❤️❤️~I'm not a boy~❤️❤️

Projects and concepts that I have stewing around Extended Pleistocene- An alternate future where man died out, and the megafauna would continue to thrive (may or may not include a bit about certain future sapients) Inverted World- An alternate timeline where an asteroid hit during the Barremian, causing an extinction event before the Maastrichtian. Dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and notosuchians make it to the present, along with a host of other animals. Badania- Alien planet that has life at a devonian stage of development, except it exists in the present day. Ido- Alien world where hoppers (derived flightless ballonts) and mouthpart-legged beasts are prevalent. Leto- Life on a moon orbiting a gas giant with an erratic orbit; experiences extremes of hot and cold. The Park- ??? Deeper Impact- a world where the K-Pg extinction wipes out crocodilians, mammals, and birds; squamates, choristoderes, and turtles inherit the earth. World of Equal Opportunity- alternate history where denisovans come across Beringia and interact with native fauna. Much of the Pleistocene fauna survives, and the modern humans that end up crossing into North America do not overhunt the existing animals. 10,000 years later, civilizations exist that are on par with European and Asian societies. The Ditch- Nothing is what if seems..

It all really depends on the person's relationship with the dead and what kind of person they are at the time, Singe. I for example "lost" my grandmother when I was roughly 14 I believe and I only ever did shed tears was when I saw the funeral taking place, people at school offered me emotional support but I was pretty okay with it. One of my friends though, her grandfather died some time back (unknown to me, I try not to touch those memories of hers) and she still cries heavily when remembering him. |

I still have moments where I cry over it. Visiting the ashyard in the Isle of Wight, and looking back at old birthday cards from them makes me well up. |

The most haunting thing for me was clearing up her flat, having to clear up every single possesion of hers. |

Well that was harsh. But anyway, I've never attended a funeral. I still have my great grandpa who's like 94. I'm probably terrible with loss. |

You hurt me. I actually felt sorry for you and was sincere about that. Just because I don't like you doesn't mean I can't be nice to you. That is really saddening that you won't accept *____* because I have no other way to comfort you. -------- And don't worry Fakey, because if you have good memories, those will be with you. You will have plenty of things to remember him by. Dont worry. |

Why would I kill you? I strongly dislike lots of people and never hurt them. Pacifist, remember? |
