Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Contrary to what many might think, eldritch abominations did not start with Lovecraft, and they are omnipresent in mythology. Even Greek Mythology and Christian Mythology have them. But few beat the horrible spawn of the mids of the Guaraní.

In Guaraní mythology, Tau, a random evil spirit, raped a woman called Kerana, and from the constant rape seven abominations were born:

- Teju Jagua, a giant lizard like creature with canine features (and sometimes many heads) and fire shooting eyes that lived in caves and was a harmless frugivore.

- Mbói Tu'ĩ, a parrot headed serpent with scales and feathers that lives on swamps and is the protector of aquatic creatures and flowers.

- Moñái, a kleptomaniac snake with antennae that hunts birds.

- Jasy Jatere, a creepy thing that looks like a child or young man with a golden staff who feeds honey to Teju Jagua and children to Ao Ao. Has leprechaun like atributes.

- Kurupi, a creature resembling an ugly man with a very long, prehensile penis that is tied along the body like a belt, which he uses to rape people.

- Ao Ao, a giant peccary that kills and eats people.

- Luison, a werewolf like grim reaper.

So, what if these monsters were real beings, and not just myths? What would they be? Here's my ideas:

Teju Jagua: A notosuchian.

Mbói Tu'ĩ: An aquatic sphenodontian.

Moñái: Giant snake/other type of limbless lizard.

Jasy Jatere: An insane person.

Kurupi: An ugly person.

Ao Ao: A giant peccary/relic entelodont.

Luison: A scavenging canine or hyena.

Teju Jagua. Could that be where the name of the real-life Tegu lizard comes from?

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

Odd how you've just turned the Human Barnacle into 'an ugly man'.
Probably had a confused tapeworm

Possibly. I don't know the origins behind the word "tegu".

It is possible to make an interesting creature out of the Kurupi, I just didn't felt much like it. Seeing as dolphins have prehensile penii, and the human penis is also very unusual as far as mammalian male genitalia go, it could possibly be a very bizarre primate with a long, prehensile penis for whatever reason.

My reinterpretations:

#1: Notosuchian. Definately. A large herbivorous and heterodont notosuchid with erectile limbs.
#2: Some kind of strange aquatic iguanid with reduced limbs and beak-like structure for cracking nuts and the shells of mollusks. Maybe the 'feathers' are peculiar elongated scales used for display?
#3: A massive bird-eating species of slug.
#4: Some sort of priest of an undiscovered primitive religion which worshipped the two animals mentioned.
#5: A very ugly ape species aggressive like chimpanzees and with long, prehensile sexual organs.
#6: Some sort of extremely aggressive (territorial) and carnivorous (possibly more of a scavenger than an actual predator) suid relative/entelodont relative/derived predatory peccary relative of the same species as all those killer boars mentioned in Greek/British mythology.
#7: A species of nocturnal/scavenging hyena or jackal.

I myself doubt the capacity of iguanids to develop decent beaks, but otherwise seems good.
