Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

No. For all their 'speed', they can only move a few metres per blink. Not enough for them to escape a decent explosion. Why this hasn't been done with SCP-173, I'll never know.

Has anyone thought of closing one eye at a time, but having the other one open to see the angel?

What about dropping an angel in acid? Can they swim? Can they fly? They do have wings... If they could flly, than when you reopen your eyes they would break.

The rock is most likely granite-derived, so acid wouldn't work. We haven't seen them fly, but seemingly leap.

I propose resonating them.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Put a mirror in front of them.

I don't know if that would work. They need to have something observe them visually to turn to stone, I don't think reflection would work.

And anyway they must look at their own bodies, so that can't petrify them.

But actually, they are observing themselves visually if they see their reflection on mirror. So "poof"!!!
Well, but it doesn't work on basilisks and the medusa....

But they must see their own bodies all the time, and they can still move.

Maybe they have to see their eyes...
What about burying one in an ant colony? Do they quantum lock in front of non-sentient species?

Then surely they would just cover their eyes and smash stuff up.

You can still see someone who puts hands in front of their face, Lamna...
