| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Well, I was interested in hearing your opinion on the matter: does life exist on other planets? Personally, I think it does. |

Probability says yes. I don't think anyone who chose to go on this forum will say otherwise... |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

I don't know about you, but I think this should be in the Habitable Zone. As to the question, it is most probable they exist. The only thing is that we don't know what life truly is, thus we are searching only for life similar to our planet's. Maybe we already found aliens, but we still don't know it. |

Yup, Habitable Zone for this. But if we see life, we'll know it. |

We need to define better what life is. Even language or literature can be concidered as life, because they meet all the standards that scientists expect of life. (Adaptability, Evolution, etc.)

Unless of course it is somehow silicon based, in which case the greater likelihood is that we won't until we notice the rocks are moving. And life can probably be defined by the Seven Life Processes Movement Respiration Sensitivity Growth Reproduction Excretion Nutrition Edited by SIngemeister, Dec 14 2010, 02:47 PM.

Unless it is a silicon plant. Then we'll be unable to determine if they are life, because they won't move. |

It won't be silicon based and active... ![]() Defining Life by MRSGREN isn't right, i reckon. Anyway, your examples are part of a bigger unit in culture, which adapts and drifts. |

Why didn't you spend your childhood reading science books, and sci-fi? Which is related to aliens, y'see. |

MRSGREN is closing doors to things we would know as life, like an AI. |
