| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Infinity features an advanced procedural engine allowing for a seemingly infinite galaxy of unique star systems and planets to discover and explore, including seamless planetary landing. Infinity offers new and existing players an extensive storyline following the complex and often intricate political and social interactions of hundreds of corporations, organizations, and reputation groups through the games three primary factions: the Centauran, the Deltan Federation, and the Star Fold Confederacy. |

It looks beautiful, but it also looks like it requires a computer with an expensive graphics card. For that reason alone, unless I can scrounge up enough money to run something like this Celestia might just win out in the end. |

I've been keeping tabs on this for a while. There isn't a demo, but you can download the combat engine, which I haven't done yet. You can't land on the planet or anything, it's just team v team space combat. I'm going to download it and check it out. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

Look to this Nebula!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOxFvRy3KdQ It don't need a very powerfull computer, since it use procedural mathematical stuff wich makes things lighter for render, for Celestia the full planet texture is aplied, but on Infinity it aply a lighter texture and then loads smaller ones as closer you get, the other side of the planet isn't rendered, and at ground level just a very small persentage of the planet is being rendered, just like google earth. System requirements are 1.8 GHz Intel or Equivalent processor; 512 MB RAM; 256 video RAM Vertex Shader/Pixel Shader 2.0 On the forum seems that they are discussion about adding seasons, snow layers and coriolis affected clouds! And this for all the planets of 200 000 000 000 star systems!!! Epic! Seems that Celestia people aren't happy with Infinity and looks like that they're not interested in use the Infinity's engine (I-Novae), which would be great since this engine produces amazing results and infinity is a Sci-Fic galaxy... |

Well, that's good news. Let's hope they can put it into a commercial package that I can afford and implement into my work!
