| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. A few kilos? Say, five kilos of antimatter on the US would be pretty bad, but it would definitely not destroy the entire country. |

No. But in the right places, like one over the New York region, one over DC, one over the San Andreas region, perhaps. Infrastructure and population would collapse to the point of no return. And most of the internet would be lost...

...You're joking, right? One or two cities go bye-bye and most of the internet is lost? You could wipe out every city in the US and only like 30% of the world wide web would be gone. And just for the record, the internet and world wide web(s) are totally different things. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

I don't like any politician that rules over me. I mean, to be fair, all leaders rule over us without our consent. Democracy is the will of the majority. Whether they be Republican, Democrat, or Whig. It is always a good thing to be untrustworthy of your leaders. But the reason I specifically dislike Barack Obama is the war. He promised to get our soldiers out of Iraq by 2009 or early 2010 in his campaign. He promised to start cutting defense budget, and may be close some of our bases around the world. Imagine how much money could have been saved, and lives. And also-- why isn't Barack Obama working to get the state out of marriage? I know he's the president and not a Governor, but he has influence over these people. Get Democratic legislators and Governors to legalize gay marriage. Another thing is the bailouts. Giving money to bankers and corporations isn't productive at all. Instead of letting the market correct itself and punish bad policies, these bigwigs get bailed out. No. Not even close. You'll destroy the capitol and kill millions of people, but that sort of attack would be far less damaging than a nuclear war. Population would collapse to the point of no return? I seriously doubt it, considering that as a whole, the US has enough people to continue the human race 30 000 times over... |

We simply cannot afford to cut back on military funding, especially not with the oil crisis in Yemen. If terrorists take that over, it's going to be very bad the US.
Actually, we elect our leaders. So the majority of voters do consent to being governed by a certain leader. Plus, the US is a Republic and not a democracy, based on the idea that normal people/citizens do not know what's best for the country. Which is pretty smart, if you ask me.
And we like to have sex, so that's a mojor advantage. Edited by Kingpin, Nov 11 2010, 07:55 PM.

What Yemen oil crisis and what terrorist group is taking over it? And how was said terrorist group formed and why?
Well we are a Democratic Republic, but the word Democracy has become synonymous with Republicanism these days. And one is not elected into office due to their knowledge of economics or their desire to do what is best for the nation, rather they get into office due to their ability to pull off successful campaigns and raise money through PACs and special interest groups. And I agree, out of all the form of governments out there, a Republican form of government is by far the best choice. As democracy quickly becomes the majority vs. the minority. But the something still persists in Republican governments to a large degree. For example, the majority of people are supportive of drug prohibition. So they will stick a gun to my head and lock me up for non-violently smoking a type of plant. And our leaders in the Congress will not do what is best for the nation and decriminalize all drugs, which will result in a decrease of drug use and a drop in violent crime. But who is going to be the first representative in the Federal House or Senate to seriously speak about such issues? They would lose their re-election by a landslide. You see the problems with Republican form of government? Also, despite the fact this nation was founded on a strong Republican government with limited suffrage, we have been turning away from this for a long time. Look at the 17th Amendment (where now the people elect Senators rather than the State legislators). Edited by Flash, Nov 11 2010, 08:27 PM.
