| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Avatar averaged out ok for me, but the story was a little drab. Taegukgi as I've said before was very good film. Letters from Iwo Jima and Yamato are two great films about the end of the Pacific War from the Japanese side. |

My friend's a war nut, and he speaks very highly of Letters from Iwo Jima. Svaing Private Ryan, too, but I doubt anyone across the pond would enjoy that as much as us Americans. |

My version of Saving Private Ryan was nicked, and i'd only seen the beginning. Though the Biritsh did fight in D-Day too, which seems to be forgotten. Anyway. Letters from Iwo Jima is a very good war film. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Well it's told from the point of view of an American soldier, who might not have had much interaction with the British. |

That wasn't shown in the film, and Omaha was only taken by the Americans. I think sometimes people take it too far, sure Americans didn't win the war in Europe, but they saved much of it from becoming a Soviet puppet. And just because a film is from the perspective of Americans don't mean it's can't be interesting. Besides most English language media is American, to disregard it just for that reason would be stupid. If you like WW2 films Talvisota and Tali-Ihantala 1944 are two good Finnish films about the Winter and Continuation wars. Edited by lamna, Oct 10 2010, 12:18 PM.

True. Though if nothing else, you can be content with the irony that the Captain America movie will be filmed entirely in England. |

May I point you in this direction? Away from those pansies that call themselves "men". http://www.cracked.com/article_17019_5-real-life-soldiers-who-make-rambo-look-like-pussy.html @Kingpin: That's what I hate about movies. They often have a real world location, yet those damn idiots film them on the othe side of the planet. Take pretty much every other Marvel movie as an example. Most of them take place in New York, and yet they film it some where stupid, like Texas. And then there's the fact with all these superheros in one city, you'd think that while Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman were getting married on a roof top, that Spidey would go web-slinging by in the background, chasing a villian. |

Well it's getting filmed over there because it apparently cheaper. And since when has Marvel strived for plausibility? |

They could still at least make passing references to other heros in the same city, and FILM ON THE CORRECT LOCATION!!!! |

No what annoys me is when a film is set in England and english actors are not used since they wish to keep and "american" audience interested. One film which bothered me was Steven Spielbergs "War of the Worlds" although it was a very good film they should have to stuck to the early 20th century setting in Woking then it would have been epic Also sometimes casting gets ridiculous such as when some dipshit cast an irishman as Alexander the Great...

If you're worried about the accent, I may point out that Leonidas was a Spartan, and didn't speak english. |
