Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Why Can't I Hold All These Mongols?

The Road was a fantastic novel that is one of the first masterpieces of literature to arise in the 21st century. I haven't seen the movie adaption, was it good?

I'd like to see more western-like films set outside the old west. There were plenty of frontiers with slow burning wars in them for settings. Southern Africa would be a good place for stuff.
The British could fill the role of the Americans, with BSAP being the sheriffs, the Boers could be the Mexicans, the diamonds could be the gold and the natives could play the natives. Lots or ranching too.

With the concentration camps and endless walls of wire?
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

I think that movie sucked. They tried to make me cry, and they failed horribly.

Ok, since, in its way, the thread might've shifted to adaptations instead of original concepts, I'd really really want to get my hands on "American McGee's Alice", putting del Toro at the helm of the creative team.

Lets see the ideas I have for story lines:

Basic Themes:

- Usage of obscure gods
- Sharks and reptiles in a positive light, mostly as allies to the protagonist
- Eldritch abominations
- The God/Gaia conflict (aka technology versus nature)
- Body horror, rape, torture, other lovely stuff to make people have some sleepless nights
- Depressing endings
- Not so subtle mockery of moral guardians
- Comedic sociopathy
- Drama
- Nihilism
- Very likable protagonists driven to insanity and despair, or any other unpleasant endings

I have many stories in my mind, and I have the hope I can turn them all into movies and tv series. If anything I will make theatrical pieces, books and comics.

How does the audience relate to trees?

I mean, trees just sit there. And photsynthesise.
Exactly. They don't defend themselves when (the) Man comes to cut them down.
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming
