| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! kryozoic cold era okay this is a new project that i am now working on that specializes in two time periods and four subperiods. the basic plot is that there has been two ice ages. how would life evolve/adapt? anyone is allowed to suggest creatures just remember that i make the final dession eight hundred thousand years in the future - 1st period: Ice age ![]() the winters are colder same with the summers. everything is snowy every thing is cold. always. -2nd period: post Ice age ![]() the long cold has gone in its place is a normal year. it will stay like that for a long time. three million years in the future -3rd period: Ice age ![]() the cold is back. -4th period: post Ice age ![]() good bye cold thoughts? more later. |

hmmm well the ice ages would kill off most animals unable to adapt to the coldness, and the post-ice age would kill off those unable to adapt to heat, i wouldn't be surprised if rodents diversified as they are extremely adaptable |

There was an ice age not very long ago so I think most the fauna and flora would probably adapt alright to a new one, any organisms that require more heat would survive in the tropics. Of course humans would have a significant impact on life, are humans still here in this project? |

that depends ´how big that ice age will be,perhaps ice age same as those in late pleistocene could start diversification of reindeers, suids etc. |

Their technology didn't save them from these perils? Anyway, how did the other primates do?

What about the demise of the rainforests? That would hard hit monkeys. |

yes it would, however some species would be able to adapt to a lifestyle that is more terrestial as opposed to the arboreal one they live currently, meaning there will be fewer primates, wolves may do quit well throughout this period though |
