Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

We're trying to put together our own planetary system!

Here's Sterrebeek (stare-uh-bake or stare-beck):
Posted Image

Common Names: Giant Parrotbill, Great Conebill
Scientific Name: Psittacorhampus giganteus
Length: 4-5 feet long
Posted Image
It lures its prey with the lure ontop of its head.

Common names: Lesser Parrotbill, Mini Conebill
Scientific name: Psittacorhampus minor
Length: 2-3 feet long
Posted Image
Lacks the lure of its larger relative. It can swim pretty fast.

Common names: Shovelhead
Scientific name: Macrocephalus velocipes
Height: 3 feet tall
Posted Image
Somewhat related to the parrotbills. This is a speedy, bipedal carnivore.

Common names: Black Cloudflier
Scientific name: None
Length: 5 feet long
Posted Image
Flies amongst the dark clouds, when they aren't present, it can swim.

Common names: Spotlight fish, Yellowspot
Scientific name: None
Length: 6-10 feet long
Posted Image
Lives in the benthic depths. Uses its yellow spots to blind its prey and to attract other females.

Common names: Black Runningbeast, Beast of Sterrebeek
Scientific name: None
Length: 4-7 feet long
Posted Image
It uses its huge muscular body to make tight turns to catch prey.

The planet itself seems rather small and inarticulate as far as its geography.

Oh I hadn't thought of that. It's not very big. Smaller than Earth.

OH I just remembered.. it's actually the western hemisphere.

And yes, there's some tectonic activity.

I'm making a planet too,its a gas planet called Indra. Its nearly twice as large as earth, and its gravitasional pull is between .5 and .6 of Earths. The concentration of oxygen is slightly larger then Earths, this and the low gravity alows giant air creatures to live here. These two pictures are of as follows, the map of Indra, and a size comparison of one representative of their species.
Map of Indra,on the left is the surface,on the right are the zones.

These are the animals of Indra.
Posted Image
1:Microflyers,Black floater
2:Planimals,Gas-grass
3:Paracopters,Dull paracopter
4:Cluds,Rainbow clud
5:Dark flappers,red-headed flapper
6:Air suckers,Flashing sucker
7:Flouds,Red-petaled floud
8:Airakes,Spine-tailed airake
9:Foot thrusters,Common thruster
10:Jellien,Great jogus
11:Jetellies,Pink jetellie
12:Frosters,Greater-northern froster
13:Sail-backs,Eel-tailed frump
14:Blownoses,Float-tail
15:Four-winged jetavians,Skewick
16:Jetavians,Steamer
17:Flaces,Shark-finned flace
18:Dandetrees,Yellow-stem
19:Giga-jets,Jale
20:Filter-floaters,Temperate filtris
21:Glow-bellies,Black demon

And just for a note, those things sticking out of their heads are tongues, and jsut so you know, their mouths open to the horzantaly, not vertivaly. Also,in the jetavians, that extra tongue with the spikes is actualy part of the gums that stretches out and acts like a tongue, its used to grasp prey. Also, there are no plants on Indra, isntead, large colonies of tiny lifeforms or large invertabretes.

Since this is actually the topic for someone's project that is not yours, I'm going to have to ask you to start a separate topic.

I'm going back to basics.

Will you post more information about their biologies?
Something is upsetting the ostriches.
