| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. All the American textbooks just say "WE PWNED THE WORLD AND THE MOON". |

I wish I could give the public a true picture of the queen as she appeared at her best, but this would be impossible, even had she permitted a photograph to be taken, for her charming play of expression while in conversation, the character and intellect which were then revealed, were only half seen when the face was in repose. -Lilias Underwood when speaking of Empress Myeongseong "I was born in the dark. I went out into the light, and your Majesty, it is my displeasure to inform you that I have returned to the dark. I envision a Seoul of towering buildings filled with Western establishments that will place herself back above the Japanese barbarians. Great things lie ahead for the Kingdom, great things. We must take action, your Majesty, without hesitation, to further modernize this still ancient kingdom."-Min Young-ik to Empress Myeongseong

I agree, Central Europe is a very interesting place. I know a little bit about Austo-Hungarian history, the Czechoslovak legions flight through revolutionary Russia, Czech pilots in the RAF, how the Russian Liberation Army turned on the Nazis at the end of the war and tried to help liberate Czechoslovakia, Prague Spring and the Warsaw Pact invasion and occupation. Not much about old Bohemia though. I know quite a lot about British History in the century between the Crimean and Korean wars, And a fair bit 1714 to present, but my knowledge is mostly Military and Colonial. |

Landing on the moon is rightfully considered to be the single most incredible feat ever accomplished by humans in their entire history. For as long as humanity exists, Americans will be remembered as the people who took humanity's first step out into the universe. Traveling 380,000 km in a modified ICBM with a computer with the power of a modern day graphing calculator to run all your systems. That they even made it to the moon is quite frankly astonishing, what they did is like diving into the Marianas Trench in a WW2 era submarine and coming back with samples from the bottom. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

Remember the Zulu, Remember Napoleon and Remember Hitler. All won major victories, and let it go to their heads, and met their Waterloo. Britian's got an excellent track record in war, but we've lost a fair share. |

I think American and British history is awful boring and hackneyed. Everybody's heard it, and us white people have very little soul in our history. We fought for "freedom", and everybody seems to think that's great, but we were looking for freedom from a relatively minor thing, taxes. It's ridiculous. Eastern Europe, the middle east, and the far east have the most interesting, soulful histories. Like, reading about all this resistance from the nazis and the spread of communism, they were truly fighting for their freedom. Sure, America and Britain fought the nazis and communism, but they fought from a distance. Iran, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Korea, China, all have much more interesting history than America and Britain. If we were taught about those countries in school, then I might actually pay attention. ... rant over. But yeah, America still has some good points, so I'll be positive and focus on those now. I just ranted because I hate when people get all super proud and stuff (looks at dialfordevil). Like the civil rights movement, that was a soulwrenching fight for freedom that deserves to be mentioned. Otherwise... ummm... there are some interesting urban legends... like we have sasquatch... and... taco bell? I dunno, I don't pay attention in history class. |

TBF Bexi, the English and Americans have the most reason to be proud. Though S. Korea, China and Brazil may have reason soon. And the Fertile Crescent, for obvious reasons. Though i prefer the Mesopotamian peoples to the Arabs. No intetnion to insult, but i reckon there's always someone. As for losing wars, well as Lamna said we've done very well for our size. And, England as it is has only been invaded twice (Norsemen, ie. Normans and Vikings) which is better than any of the Central European ones. The War of Independence may seem a blip, but we had bigger worries and didn't want mirthy colonies. mike, are you forgetting pre-American British History? (Herstory?) |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed."
