| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Before I go any further, college rules. The first part of this post is me complaining, but don't get confused, I love it. I started the day with a screwed up schedule that said all my classes were in the wrong buildings, I don't have a car and even if I did I can't drive. To go through the bookstore you have to go through three lines, one to be verified, the second to get into the book store, the third to get out of the bookstore. Two of those lines I had to pass through twice because, guess what? I was in such a hurry to talk to my councelor (I didn't know when/where my next class was since it wasn't even on my schedule, that's another one) I didn't even notice I picked up the same book twice (I hate plastic wrap SO much, and when two books are wrapped together), so I had to go through two of those lines again to return it. Oh, and one of my classes isn't on my schedule, see I'm on the 'wait-list'. This means I may not even be in the class, but I still go because of the chance some one might drop-out. Since I might not be in the class, I don't have a book, which means I can't follow along, so I'll probably fall a bit behind. NOW FOR THE GREAT STUFF! 1. I am getting way more respect from my teachers. 2. They know what they are teaching. 3. More mature people. Not many that are my age, but whatever. 4. Two hours of free time at least every day, in a little while today I have a class, none before and none after. I have another day like that, the rest I only have three classes with two hours for lunch and whatever else I need to do. Oh, and three day weekend. 5. While some of my friends are there, mostly, everyone's new. I finally get to start over. YES. 6. Didn't I mention I'm on a wait-list for a class? It's geology, I want to take a geology class. 7. Did you read number six? Yeah, there's this girl in there. Remember the other girl I mentioned in Seascorp's thread? I'm officially over her. I might not 'like' this one, but I am over the other one. 8. Smarter staff. Have I already mentioned that? 9. More comical then awesome, but my computer teacher is a bit of a luddite. He hates us doing work over the net, yet constantly talks about how awesome the internet is. Plus he's Chinese (not just the race, I mean nationality, or at least he was born there). I've never met someone who was truley Chinese, descendents of Chinese, Koreans, Thais, never Chinese. For some reason I love that. |

College has always sounded great... The jump in maturity is, apprently, the most important thing for a 'budding sciointoist loik yoirsoilf' (it's hard to write accents). But what kind of differences are there in the USA? Do you have a tutorship system? |

@ Holben: No idea. I don't know anything about British Colleges, but from what I've heard so far they aren't that different. What's tutorship? Oh, and yeah, it is great. Just got back from class, a lot of my old friends were actually in that one. It looks like they all have a TR schedule instead of a MW schedule (mines MW with one TR class) @ Fakey: We'll find out soon enough I suppose. I've been as asocial as ever, really only talking to three new people so far not counting staff (and even then, the same conversation). |

It is when you need it. I'll probably end up using it to take care of all that stuff I need to for school. That, and I like a break. |

Yes it is... but all i know about geology has been learnt from relations. That may be slight exaggeration. He did do geology at university, though. Silly GCSE system in certain areas of Britain! |
