| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Well, i'll be an nforcer of a type- whether my laws will make sense, however... But i'm being a little presumptory. I'll see how the game is. ___ The ICP seems incredibly Freespace-like. Edited by Holben, Aug 13 2010, 03:29 AM.

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

what hasn't been mentioned is if you can get in and out of your space ship. seriously, theres no images of people walking around, no mention of walking, it mentions flying around a planet to take a look but it doesn't mention walking |

I'm guessing you can't. But why would you wany to? IA has said they're making textures and models for humans, though. There will probably be no aliens, though there will be relics of ancient cultures on some planets. |

The reason spore wasn't that good was because it tried to satisfy both Creationists and Evolutionists. Which doesn't work. Also, a lack of creativity in the middle stages. |

No the reason Spore was not as good as we hope is because they had so little time to make such a vast game. My game play would be guided by my prime directive. Kill all pirates. I hope we get Q-ships. |

I could try explaining it, but it's best to try out Orbiter and see for yourself. The core tenet of spaceflight is the orbit. You only burn your engines to change your orbit, and you only manuver to point yourself in the right direction to change your orbit in the intended manner (though you do have to rotate to do other things like align for docking or manage thermal stresses on the hull, and use translation thrusters in the final phases of docking). It is about as un-jetlike as you can possibly imagine.
That's pretty much it, but a boulder with a Reaction Control System...
Yeah, and I think the way jets handle is uncool, with all the turns and stuff. We better have battleships in the SKY! Supported by dozens of spinning helicopter blades...

They already said there would be active ecosystems though. How do you have active ecosystems with no lifeforms? |
|
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself
