Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Real space craft are not entertaining to operate. Nothing to do for days but to watch and wait, then intense bursts of activity where one mistake could kill you and a dozen other people.

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

I'd probably try and mimic Napolean, leading a mass conquest, let others join with me, carve out a massive domain (preferrably my own solar system), then wait a while. Somehow buld up cash and allies to get a much greater army together, and then spread quickly. Not stopping until I loose everything or gain everything. If I do loose, screw it, I'll just start over with a new account.

Repeat.

Either that, or join with a force that already exists, and another one, and play them against the middle. Why? Poops and giggles.

That is, if I actually do get the game. It's roughly what I started on the Andromeda Forum Role Play.

Becoming Napoleon? Piracy? Well now, that sort of thing simply isn't done.

I'll be doing the honourable thing, smashing petty tyrants and hunting pirates.

Oh and I would have thought you chaps would have known, but they already have a combat demo for you to try out called Infinity Combat Prototype.

L'évolution Spéculative est moi

I'd like to be an explorer. I could go around finding things nobody has found before, and I bet you can make a mean profit by finding out-of-the-way habitable worlds for others to establish colonies on (did I mention you can build your own colonies/cities?). And if the ecosystems are diverse enough I bet I could be a part-time exobiologist too. Speculative, of course, since I probably can't capture and study alien organisms.

EDIT: And you're right, the game will probably be toned down a bit. But unlike Spore this game isn't being made by Will Wright, it's made to be realistic and huge. That's the audience it's trying to appeal to; the people who were disappointed by Spore. And let me tell you, I was disappoint.

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

Why do I find that incredibly hard to believe?

Whatever's the most fun, I do. I'm no good at building empires, so I'd likely just loot, pillage, and maybe the occasional bounty hunting.

oh and i'll start a colony on either an asteroid, moon or a plain old desert planet or an ice world, the colony will basicly just be a criminal hub with no law and no order, wh
